Random Valiant Finds at Dollar Tree?! - NOW WITH PIC!!
Valiant Ones,
As I was shopping at Dollar Tree for cheap snacks for tonight's episode of Survivor, i ran across a stack of Valiant Comic 2 packs from LONG ago! i couldn't believe it!
One had Deathmate #1 and an issue of Eternal Warrior, the other had Magnus #26 and an issue of Archer & Armstrong. I vaguely remember seeing these in Toys R Us in the late 1990's.
I was so happy to see these comics back in the stores, i almost bought them!!!

Re: Random Valiant Finds at Dollar Tree?!
That's pretty cool! I will have to check my local Dollar Trees and see if they have any. I think I would buy them for sure.

I only used to go to places like that right before a hardcore match.
It was pretty amazing what you could find on the cheap that could be turned into awesome improvised weaponry.

Re: Random Valiant Finds at Dollar Tree?!
I rarely have any luck with good finds at places like that. I just don't frequent them enough.
Example: When Monster stupidly cancelled the "Chai Hai" drink (it was AWESOME), they sent all their overstock to Big Lots.
Except, it seems, every Big Lots within 100 miles of me. I saw tons of pics of the beverage in Big Lots/Odd Lots from, well, anywhere but Ohio/Kentucky.

Just because i said I would post pics, I went back and ended up buying one of each 2 pack!
If anyone wants me to snag a set for them, let me know! They are only a buck apiece!

Believe it or not, a simple Jurassic Park card. One 2 pack has a pic of John Hammond and the other 2 pack's card is in-between the books so I can't see the card, but it has the same red border as the other card.

I looked at my local Dollar Tree and they didn't have any. I would have bought them in a heartbeat, even if it was Deathmate.

Of course - I am struggling to think of a classy comic I ever found inside a bag like that...Ax wrote:Damn. Whatever kid winds up with those Deathmates may never read comics again.
But I've bought QUITE a few of them.

Weird that 20 year old comics would be turning up at a venue like this, though!

I wonder how many more there are out there. Remember the ones that Greg found that had the Magnus #0s? (I seem to remember he got them off ebay)
I wonder if there are some other Valiant gems rotting away at Dollar Stores?

I used to buy those kinds of packs at Toy's R Us when I was a kid. I might run down to my local Dollar Tree just to see that they don't have these too! My Dollar Tree never get's cool stuff except for one time they had Transformers G1 XBOX 360 Face Plates. That was kind of cool. Never seen comics in the store though.

Re: Random Valiant Finds at Dollar Tree?! - NOW WITH PIC!!
Sorry for the necro bump, just posting here for the first time in a while and came across this. This is exactly how I got into Valiant comics back in the day. I want to say it was at Dollar Tree specifically, and this dollar store had three-packs of Valiant comics. It was mostly commonplace, mid-run Valiant stuff, but the packaging was similar, it just came with three instead of two. We thrilled at the chance to pick up a few more packs with the few dollars we could scrape together as kids, and those same comics are part of my much bigger Valiant collection today.T2KFreeker wrote:I used to buy those kinds of packs at Toy's R Us when I was a kid. I'm going to have to hit a few Dollar Trees in the area and see if I can't dig up a few more surprises, thanks for the heads up!

I remember buying these at Toys r Us as well. I am pretty sure I got one once with XMen #5 and Uncanny 288 (I Think, just going off the top of my head). They were the 1st appearances of Omega Red and Bishop, respectively. I also got one once with Next Men and Justice Machine issues...pretty sweet. Would love to find something like that laying around a dollar store. No way I could have resisted buying those.X-O Dudeowar wrote:Sorry for the necro bump, just posting here for the first time in a while and came across this. I'm sayin', right? I'm half tempted to do a sweep of Detroit-area Dollar Trees just to see what I could dig up. I don't think we ever got any particularly rare issues, and I don't even remember most of the non-Valiant titles, but it was still cool, and totally got me started on Valiant.BugsySig wrote: I remember buying these at Toys r Us as well.
