I voted no. IMHO if characters from a dead universe come back into print on even a semi-regular basis, it's no longer dead.
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.

but the basis of their existence is no more, the continuity that existed to tight within the MU is no more so to speak, even if they are used in the New DC 52 etc.
What was before is untouched and until they revive that timeline/story arcs etc, then Dead, Dead and Dead.

I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.

The DCU has been a dead universe too me for a long time. The New 52 was and is the final nail in the coffin for me.

I tend to agree with the Draco-nator.

If you act like nothing came before, then nothing WAS before. The past does not get to wink in and out on a writer's whim. Unless you are using magic... (as a waaay stretched example) like Marvel does when they want to change something. One day Peter Parker smells like Mary Jane, wakes up and still smells like Mary Jane but does not know why and nor does she ?

(yes, this is a BAD example... but FUN !! Cuz, ya know... "I" wouldn't mind smelling like Mary Jane... the woman. :P )

To concur with Draco and Knightt, these DC stories are not a direct continuation of what went before, they just look awfully similar.

Consider it this way; ABC (with Terra Obscura) and Dynamite (with Project Superpowers) directly based characters on many of the same old Nedor characters assuming the past continuity as canon; are both then the same universe? No. They are just similar. Just as DC Static is similar to milestone Static, but not the same character.

Milestone ended with Milestone Forever. Even the Static Shock 'tribute' *cough*cash-in by DC*cough* following the death of Dwayne McDuffie is a DC book in my view. I view myself as a pretty ardent fan of Milestone and the DC era is not the same stuff, with the same feel/tone/back-story, especially after the latest DC reboot.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month
