I've read some mixed reviews on this. The one I did read carefully didn't like it. I guess many of the weapons you create have a very short shelf-life and then to repair them costs a lot of money. It also said that "throwing" weapons at the zombie was very difficult and frustrating.

It is small pieces like this (ACII) and others like the MANY missions in Mass Effect II that I have not finished (or uh, even the main campaign) which should distract me from buying ANY games and the reason I did not pick up Dead Island (360) or Resistance 3 (PS3) in the Post Exchange today for $59.95 (NO tax which is an automatic $5.00 savings over GameStop or any civilian store). Plus the fact that I am a total sucker for something like Dead Island and by all means should wait for a couple of weeks to purchase or at least until a 'after first sale day review' which I have found to be a much more damning review than the 'hands on exclusive' reviews that you see in magazines and some online sites like IGN.

Gears of War 3 and Batman Arkham City are exceptions to this rule and WILL be purchased on 'first sale day'.

45 Minutes of Dead Island's gameplay video. Enough to make me want to go right out and buy it... must resist.

http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/09/04/de ... tid=955540" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I would turn off the volume as the two chatting as in commentary are just babbling.

I wish I could figure out how to embed this video, a thousand pardons.

Gears of War is a GREAT co-op game. If you work well with a friend there are lots of opportunities to flank the enemy and there is something just so rewarding about that. I don't know if I'd say it's a great shooter, because I've played better, but it's a great overall game. The story is really good, the controls feel solid, and while it can be hard at times, it's never so hard that you can't get through it after a few tries. I just hope they haven't made any changes to 3 to make any of that not true.

Portal Still Alive is my game right now. I've always heard that the Portal games were fun, but for some reason I never tried them until a few days ago. It's some addictive stuff.

Seems that Ice T is in the game and was given a limited edition GOW3 console and unboxed it on YouTube yesterday.

Have never played GOW. Is it co-op only?

You can play GoW single-player or co-op. Both can be fun and frustrating in equal measures.

Started on Ocarina of Time 3D. Wow. All the charm of the original with added eye frying 3D effects. I have no problems with any of the health issues reported with the 3DS so am having a lot of fun with it.

Also enjoying RE: Mercenaries 3D. How can anyone not love shooting zombies and their derivatives in the face or the intimates and watching them writhe around on the floor before stamping on their head?

For me personally, it's not enjoyable as a single player game. You really need to be playing with someone you can coordinate with, but it does offer single player if that's the route you like to go.

My 25 yo nephew bought both those games and he says they are fantastic. He grew up with Zelda and Ocarina was his fav.

I kinda feel the same way (about the first game). I did like the use of cover and the main story was pretty good, but I found the gameplay a little stale. I haven't played the second one yet, so maybe they have improved on the original design.

Yep, I like it. The attack button could be a bit more reactive and there are nothing but 'go fetch' missions so far but I did travel a bit on the island (thank goodness for DRIVING ability) and found a big honkin' zombie on top of a gas station that knocked me around a bit, not unlike a few real life fistfights that I have been in where my vision blurs, I get knocked on my *SQUEE* and I fumble with reality as I try to stand back up. LOL

Ok, dude... which one is it.

I've added a DetroitSquirrel (lowercase "L") and it went through and the player has CoD but that means nothing these days.
