SDCC ... how much walking?

Normally I wouldn't care, I can hump it like a mule. But I tore a calf muscle and I'm trying to rehab it. I'm still about 3-4 weeks from being able to resume running.

But I've been walking a lot, 3-4 miles a day. So I was wondering how much walking can I expect to do daily at SDCC? My hotel is 1.2 miles from the convention center and I plan on walking in and out each day.

I'm not a good example, but I'm speed-walking about 90% of the time, the entire time I am there.

There is TONS of walking, but you can plan it out and be much more organized than I am.

You do a lot more walking than most. As long as Depluto doesn't plan on spending the whole time running back and forth across the floor hustling sketches until closing time, I think he'll be fine.


But yeah, there's a lot of walking. If you're on the mend, just take it easy. You'll be fine.

I would plan on a minimum of 2.4 miles per day.

Seriously though, it is a WHOLE lot of walking, and a whole lot of standing. I think the convention center floor is about a third a mile long, so combine that with aisles to walk up and down, and there is a bit.

My guess is that I walk about 2 to 4 miles each day once inside the convention center, not counting walking time to actually get to the convention.

That's probably a good estimate. I forgot where you're staying but most of the hotels not right downtown have access to the convention shuttles to get back and forth. There are also a million bike cabs you can negotiate with depending on how busy they are if you want to pay.
