Yeah, hard to believe someone would spend that kind of money on the first Usagi Yojimbo if he or she didn’t have a nice Mirage vol. 1 TMNT run.xodacia81 wrote:No way to tell, but I would like to think it was the finishing touch for a TMNT collector.IMJ wrote:Wonder if that sold to a general comic book collector or a TMNT collector?
If I had that kind of extra money I would be buying the last book I need—a TMNT #1 first print. Only after would I be trying to track down the first Usagi Yojimbo.

Yep. Speaking of 1st prints, I saw and held both editions of the 1st issue of The Tick, yesterday.sanman wrote:Yeah, hard to believe someone would spend that kind of money on the first Usagi Yojimbo if he or she didn’t have a nice Mirage vol. 1 TMNT run.xodacia81 wrote:No way to tell, but I would like to think it was the finishing touch for a TMNT collector.IMJ wrote:Wonder if that sold to a general comic book collector or a TMNT collector?

What was even cooler was holding the entire 6-issue set of The Hulk, about a year or so prior. Since sold, but that guy always gets the coolest books.sanman wrote:Coolxodacia81 wrote:Yep. The original 6 Hulks, very cool indeed.xodacia81 wrote:What was even cooler was holding the entire 6-issue set of The Hulk, about a year or so prior. The best book I’ve ever seen in a New Orleans LCS was a VG Amazing Fantasy #15.

Any form or media hold power, it's how they use or abuse that power that makes or breaks them and the people they are spreading the news about.sanman wrote:If not, great marketingDraco wrote:There is something i noticed about some of the recent hype IMage books being Shadowline?sanman wrote:Image's 27 #1 has been consistently selling below the $10 mark.
Think someone is playing around here on a reporting/review level?

True, and under-delivered hype may kill a book faster than one needing a little time to develop but with realistic fan expectationsDraco wrote:Any form or media hold power, it's how they use or abuse that power that makes or breaks them and the people they are spreading the news about.sanman wrote:If not, great marketingDraco wrote:There is something i noticed about some of the recent hype IMage books being Shadowline?sanman wrote:Image's 27 #1 has been consistently selling below the $10 mark.

I got an email from my LCS last night that they're still taking pre-orders and people who order at least 5 copies get a 10% discount.depluto wrote:So this next FF is going to involve a major character being killed. And the mainstream media will probably pick up on this. And it could be sold out everywhere in a day, like the Obama Spidey or Cap Dead.
Shouldn't it be possible to pick up a stack of these through pre-orders and then just flip them that week? Is that seedy? Shady? I have no intention of doing this, I was just wondering.
I asked for a couple of extra copies for people in my office who were interested, but I haven't flipped any comics like that since Superman died (I pre-ordered 20 for $2 each, the guy at the comic shop bought them all back from me for $20 each the day it came out ... I still don't have a copy, haha).
There are already some auctions on eBay (some completed) on pre-orders near cover price. So far, there doesn't seem to be that much momentum. Nothing like the high prices for the recent Image #1s before they hit the shelves.

Interesting ... but really it's the way things should be. I guess the only thing that could cause some weird frenzy is if it's a slow news day and the mainstream media picks up on it.iggy101us wrote:I got an email from my LCS last night that they're still taking pre-orders and people who order at least 5 copies get a 10% discount.depluto wrote:So this next FF is going to involve a major character being killed. Yeah, I think there's some 1:50 variant and possibly more.depluto wrote:Don't shops get some kind of super-limited edition if they sell a certain number of books?iggy101us wrote:I got an email from my LCS last night that they're still taking pre-orders and people who order at least 5 copies get a 10% discount.
