I kinda enjoyed seeing the story from all the different anglesxodacia81 wrote:But what a great 3 issues.400yrs wrote:I finished Unity just last week. Me too, but the story works best when read over the course of a week or two, rather than all at once or even over a day or two.tmcneil82 wrote:I kinda enjoyed seeing the story from all the different anglesxodacia81 wrote:But what a great 3 issues.400yrs wrote:I finished Unity just last week. Definitely. Over several months like when it was released, yeah. It's not something I want to read nearly straight through again.xodacia81 wrote:Me too, but the story works best when read over the course of a week or two, rather than all at once or even over a day or two.tmcneil82 wrote:I kinda enjoyed seeing the story from all the different anglesxodacia81 wrote:But what a great 3 issues.400yrs wrote:I finished Unity just last week. Yep. I'd suggest doing 0 & 1 in a single sitting, then waiting 2 or 3 days. Wait days, do 2-5. Wait 2 or 3 days, read 9-12 & finish up 13-18 about 3-5 days after that. It works a lot better because of all the redundancy.400yrs wrote:Definitely. Over several months like when it was released, yeah. Yeah, I was a bit surprised when I searched it yesterday. The book has been in the 80-100 range for a while. I think those sales were higher because there are very, very few copies up right now for some reason (raw at least). I think I only saw 1 raw copy up right now and only the 3 in completed auctions.ian_house wrote:Is that price still rising then? Over here I've seen it go for around £50-60.xodacia81 wrote:In the words of Homer Simpson "DOH!"400yrs wrote:If it's a first print, it sells for $100. 2 copies just sold for $150 and $175 too.OmenSpirits.com wrote:

There are no raw copies on eBay uk at the mo, and the only completed listing is issues 1-10 all first print for £86.400yrs wrote:Yeah, I was a bit surprised when I searched it yesterday. Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow
I was taken out of this story right off the bat when it was "revealed" that Clark Kent was Superman simply by knocking Clark's glasses off and breaking through his shirt. One problem I've always had with Superman is that he doesn't wear a mask, but no one recognizes him.
Since that is how the story started, that doomed it for me right away. The story itself was fine, but not something I will read again. I kind of expected a bit more out of Alan Moore.
I have yet to read the rest of the stories in the trade.

Wow, I'm surprised you didn't think much of it. I thought that story was pretty damn cool. It really sets a mood of dread and despair in the reader's mind (well, at least this reader) and I think the art also does an excellent job of extending that feeling. To me, it's probably my favorite Superman story.400yrs wrote:Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow

The art was really good. My problem was really with the beginning. It just took me right out of the story. And after reading both issues, I'm not really sure that the identity reveal was even necessary at all to the story.Brother J wrote: Wow, I'm surprised you didn't think much of it. I don't think there has been any Superman story that I've really liked. I thought Superman For All Seasons was bland. Death of Superman was painfully bad. The story that I've liked the most was the recent Last Son story and the subsequent Action issues. I want to re-read that soon, but I really just can't get into Supes.

Just read my comics for the week: The Flash, Green Lantern, Brightest Day and DCU Legacies. Each was pretty damn good, for a change, with all having major plot developments. Brightest Day was nice, as it explored the character of Boston Brand in detail. The Flash offered some interesting questions for Barry, the Rogues and the future "Flashpoint" storyline. Green Lantern had some excellent scenes, indicitating that the Indigo Tribe might not be so great after all. The "War of the Lanterns" is starting to take shape. All in all, an EXCELLENT week.

I love the design, but where does it fit in with the current series for that character?ian_house wrote:I accidently opened the last page of GL in the store... Say whattt!
