Just read the Surrogate Owner's Manual. It's a great looking hardcover that collects both mini-series. The art could have been better but it's a very cool concept that looks at the social ramifications of using the surrogates technology to replace humans in every day life.

Yet to read volume two, but loved the 1st volume and agree about the art.
I actually really enjoyed the movie too.

Just about to finish the run of Ult X-Men. I have enjoyed Kirkman's run. He has been laying out plot points that are now coming to fruition.

I'm at the last part of the Apocalypse storyline. The Phoenix v. Apocalypse.

Pretty good so far.

I enjoyed the Kirkman era quite a lot - he basically did what the line was intended for, using some familiar ideas in fairly familiar ways, while taking other familiar ideas and really twisting them around. I cannot say that I enjoyed Aron Coleite who took over later for the end-run.

Have you tried any of the other Ultimate series (pre- or post- Ultimatum)?

I've read both Avengers runs by Milar. Both good. And the 3rd one (I think) with Cap and Red Skull. Not as good, but ok.

It has been a while, but I seem to remember that this is his Marvel writing that is most similar to his Invincible writing in that he dropped alot of stuff out there and then wrapped into it later. I love that.

I enjoyed most all of what I read (USM, UXM, the first Ultimates). However, my favorite stuff might be the Ultimate Marvel Team-Up collection and the Ultimate Galactus books. Weird.

Has anyone read One Moment In Time?

It got bashed everywhere in reviews.

I've only read the first issue so far, but I thought it was fantastic. I loved Annual 21 being weaved in to the story. Joe Quesada is an awesome penciller. His MJ variant covers are just beautiful.

Just re-read Emerald Dawn volumes 1 & 2, for the first time in about 15 years. Man, have comics changed in the last 20 years. Not nearly as much "cosmic threat" stuff and far more about immediate planetary or personal problems. A refreshing reminder. Also, comics used to have more humor. That wasn't a false memory, lol. To that end, one of the best and funniest exchanges I've ever read was in this series:

Evil creature: "do you doubt that we lack the power to destroy you?"

Sinestro: "Do I doubt that you lack the power? Listen to yourself! Your syntax is as garbled as your political schemes. The sign of a disordered mind"

So I finished the Ult. X-Men #1-100 run.

Overall it thought it was pretty good. There were some lulls for sure, but not really any time where I was disinterested.

I think the kirkman run was maybe the best and there was an artist (can remember the name) that did a few books early on in a sorta cartoon style that I thought really fit.

A few things that I was not crazy about.

They do not look like kids. If they did not keep talking about how they are teenagers I would have never realized that. I think they should have drawn them to looking like kids and not so muscular.

there was a bit too much of Jean Grey/Phoenix saving the day.

Prof. X came off very lame and un-powerful and un-smart. I think he was the poorest executed character through out the book.

But overall, a very fun and exciting read.

Now I am gonna read the Frank Miller Give Me Liberty/Martha Washington stuff.

Martha is some of the best stuff that Miller and Gibbons have done, E. You are in for a treat.

I kind of liked that about the series.

I definitely want to re-read it one of these days.

My Bone reading has slowed a bit due to time restraints and the interest leveling a bit. :(

I hope to get back to it soon.
