Preacher does ramp up again and when you get to "Salvation"...hoo boy. You're in for some nasty, nasty, nasty stuff.400yrs wrote:Preacher through vol 5. Vol 4 and 5 have slowed things down a bit. Les Enfants Du Sang are stupid and boring. I can't believe that stuff took up most of vol 5. They could've been wiped out in one issue. Cassidy is a cool character, but he's getting a bit stale. I guess this is kind of the middle of the series where Ennis was working out the endpoint.
I think I'm going to read The Sword by the Luna Brothers before getting back to Preacher.

Finally finished The great Fables Crossover trade.
For those who had stated that they had reservations about where the story was going, I must say, you probably won't like this book.
For the most part, I did, but I have weird tastes. I like "goofy" stuff in stories. Things that have been blasted here on the boards that came from Quantum and Woody, Bad Eggs or other stuff like what you'll find in the Scott Pilgrim books abound in the Fables book. It makes me chuckle every time, but I know many of you don't care for it.
I don't want to give too much away, but it's the pretty much the main plot dealing with "The Literals" that I'm referring to here.
This was not on par with what I've read in Fables in the past, which is part of why it took me so long to even get back to it once I'd put it down.
Bigby's "journey" though was must see for any fan of the character though.

I wasn't a big fan of the crossover as it was a little jack orientated for my likings. The Fables storyline really is getting back on track though! I've enjoyed the last two arcs and its paving the way for something much biggerdave wrote:Finally finished The great Fables Crossover trade.

Good to hear that last part...the crossover IMO was too much Jack and not enough Bigby...and the Literals were maybe too much of a gimmick...still a good read though even if not up to par with the rest of the fables TPB'sian_house wrote:I wasn't a big fan of the crossover as it was a little jack orientated for my likings. geocarr wrote:I finished the Ul;timate Cable & Deadpool Collection TPB's volumes 1 & 2. These are huge, very funny, and have a pretty entertaining story running through them. I plan to pick up the 3rd volume that was either just released or will be out soon. I can see myself re-reading these in the future for the laugh out loud factor.
Cabe & Deadpool was a real fun title!

I read Girls #1 when they did that Image Firsts for a Dollar thing.400yrs wrote:The Sword - Luna Brothers = awesome.
It seemed like each trade just added a layer to the story. I was pretty surprised at the happenings all throughout the last trade. This book had a better ending, but I think overall, I liked Girls a bit better because there were more characters. Good stuff.
I needed to go pray. That was just sick. I am sure the story was good but there's some serious depravity going down.
