One of my VERY independent comics...

McCandless & Company: Insecurities
From the creator of Antiques: The Comic Strip and Zombie-Proof and writer of 24 and the artist of the critically acclaimed Tales of the Cherokee comes this story of two private detectives from two very different walks of life, Carey McCandless and Jessica Williams. Along with their only employee, would-be writer David Bradshaw, they investigate the surprisingly deadly and certainly contemporary theft of $60 million from a mutual fund.
A complete 48-page crime noir graphic novel in glorious B&W.
Written by J.C. Vaughn and illustrated by Gene Gonzales.
Crime Fiction, one-shot.
48 Pages, Black & White, $5.95

Very good, I can live with that. Will give it a look as soon as I can--sounds really cool.JCVaughn wrote:It's PG-13 at most (and I'm pretty conservative about ratings).sanman wrote:Interesting, but I would like some more information please. In particular, how strong is the adult nature of the book? (Adjacent to your listing was an ad for another book with a very "adult" looking character.)

It's strictly print-on-demand or see me at cons.Orangeribbon wrote:Where is this shipping from? Wanna know when to look out for it.

Well, needless to say, I hope you enjoy it.Orangeribbon wrote:Actually I ordered it 15 days ago, and they finally shipped itI was curious where ComiXpress shipped from because they charged me state tax. Can't wait, it looks like a really good read. Unfortunately I was hoping it would get here before class started. I am knee deep and Cassus.

JC and vikingspawn (since you have one in you hand),
How is ComicXpresses printing? I got my first book fir Kablam yesterday and I was not impressed. Held it to a current green lantern comic and the difference was amazing. The green lantern book laid flat and the kablam book had an oval at the spine (I.e. Not crease folded).
Thanks
Jonathan

I've bought a number of books through them, but can't locate one at the moment. They print on thicker paper than the big boys, don't they?Fanboy375 wrote:JC and vikingspawn (since you have one in you hand),

The cover cardstock on this one is thick and smooth. The interior pages are like a regular b&w comic like "Usagi Yojimbo." I was comparing it now with a b&w "Usagi Yojimbo" #100 issue from Dark Horse and it's the same. I had a "RASL" comic here by Jeff Smith to compare and the interior paper quality on "RASL" is rough and scratchy.Fanboy375 wrote:JC and vikingspawn (since you have one in you hand),

I noticed the "oval" effect you mentioned but that's cool to me cuz I don't see spine bends on this one.
It's way better than I thought it would come out since I never tried a "print-on-demand" comic before. Cool comic.
I like the fact that there's zero ads in the interiors too and it's just a straight comic throughout.
