Not Valiant related at all, but those who appreciate a good "comic flip" might appreciate this one:

First, I bought this off eBay with a BIN:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0258097770

great price for this item. Unfortunately, the seller had no idea how to grade. He graded it Mint (which I knew it wouldn't be), it turned out to be VG+ to VG/F with tan pages and a spine split. Also, the seller shipped it unbagged and unboarded. He stuck it in some flimsy cardboard and put it into a small bubble mailer, which could have easily been folded in half due to the flimsy cardboard. I wrote the seller to let him know the problems, but I didn't ask for a refund, because I knew I was still going to make money on the book, just not as much.

I listed it on eBay with a large front cover photo and graded it properly. Here's the auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0336270705

The buyer paid quickly and was very happy to have the item, and I didn't do too bad myself. :D

I would say yes, underground comix guys are known for ripping off stuff (like the Mickey Mouse/Air Pirates lawsuit).

gotta feel a little bad for the seller, though. He had to take a bath on this with the slabbing fee, plus he only charged $5.00 for Priority shipping, which seems pretty low for a slabbed book. Good deal for the winner! :thumb:

So at the LBCC I was hoping the 1/2 TPBs dudes would be there. Well, they were and I was able to get quite a deal. I remembered one of the dudes from SDCC started to talk to him and was able to work out quite a deal.

Here are all the TPBs that I got.

#1) transmetropolitan #1 (I have been unsure about checking this out, but for the price I could not pass it up. I also talked to Darick Robertson I had to check it out. BTW, I had him sign the book to me.)
#2) Ducktales book for my girls (this is a thick trade, it has 7 full size issues in it)
#3) Sonic the Hedgehog The Beginning (also for my kids)
#4) Invincible #3 (VERY pumped to read this, I already have #1 & #2)
#5) Conan - Demons of Khitai (new DH run)
#6) Conan -Blood Stained Crown (Busiek)
#7) Conan- God in the Bowl (Busiek)
#8) Conan- Dance of the Skull (DH reprints the Thomas & Buscema run)
#9) Justice vol #1 (Alex Ross)
#10) World of Dungeon and Dragons #1 by DDP
#11) Batman Red Rain (I have REALLY wanted to read this, I have been looking for a cheap copy for awhile.)
#12) Dynamo 5 #1
#13) Hellboy #7 The Troll Witch and other stories. (so excited to get #7)

and......

#14) Planet Hulk HARD COVER, still shrink wrapped.

So 13 TPBs and the Hulk HC. All for $60!

So just over $4 for each book!

Nice deal. I'm lucky to ever find straight up half offs at cons around here.

That third trade is pure awesome. I just flipped it. Ottley is still finding his way art-wise back then, but the story is excellent. Post your thoughts after you read it in the reading thread.

It's amazing looking at Ottley's stuff back then compared to his stuff now. His progression is probably the best and fastest I've ever noticed in comics.

I believe it is a Bats v. Vampire. I think there is 3 books and Red Rain is the first. I have heard only very good things about it. I have looked a few times on ebay and it has always been out of my price range.

This might be my best all-time buy!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

and for added bonus a nice number one yellow for only $48...

For those that don't know, this Maxx Black #3 is the toughest to find and some questioned if any actually existed...the only copy ever seen is with our old friend ZWH! I'm very close to completing the Maxx Ashcan full set, which to my knowledge no one has!
