Hello everyone!

My name is Jonesy, a long-time comic book reader, a HUGE Dream Theater fan, a recovering Transformers-addict(lol) and a current student here in Phoenix, AZ getting my education to become a Music Therapist :)

I currently work at an environmental consulting firm as a good ol' data entry clerk; my claim-to-fame in this world thus far is that I have released my own album with my buddy Dave Lowmiller called "Catalyst" under the band name "A Dark Halo." Check us out on MySpace and iTunes!

Now that you know about me, I will talk about my introduction to Valiant. I started reading comics back in 1992 right when Image comics had started. I hate to admit it, but I was an Image-head. I bought everything they released. And because I didn't know any better at the time, I would only read Image and I remember not even giving Valiant a chance. I had a friend who bought Bloodshot 1 and various other books by the big V, but it wasn't flashy enough for me at the time.

The only books I actually owned were the Deathmate crossover, which I remember being excited for in the beginning. But the waiting and waiting for Image's half of the story really ruined it for me.

As the years have gone by, i've gotten out of Image (mainly from Rob Liefeld's input), and have become a big Batman and DC fan (more specifically a Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" fan). Besides that, I just haven't bought any books, because I can't stand much of the drivel out these days (except maybe for Green Lantern by Geoff Johns).

But my love for Valiant is new; I just bought a long-box full of Valiant comics from a guy here locally, and have absolutely fallen in love with comics again. The earliest books that are in the run are the Unity cross-over, going up to about issue 20-25 of each of the core Valiant titles (except no "Archer and Armstrong" after issue 2 :(

As i've learned more and more about Valiant, Jim Shooter's plight, and the general excitement of how all these books are intertwined, it is my goal to be able to find and buy reader copies of the issues that I do not have, strictly to enjoy the magic of Valiant. And the fanbase has really been wonderful so far as I have joined this board and "Valiant Collectors Society" and had some awesome conversations with both Greg from here and Ryan from VCS.

Also, I really dig the "Only The Valiant" podcast episodes by Sean, Chiclo, and "Average Joe."

Thank you for allowing me the chance to introduce myself and tell my story thus far.

My single favorite Valiant read thus far? "Archer and Armstrong" #1!!!

Chiclo! Hey man, awesome to hear from one of the podcasters!

Yeah, your show has honestly made my interest skyrocket for reading these books.

Oh, and I had to laugh my butt off when I listened to the Deathmate podcast, because one of you guys was going on about how no-one would have strictly been an Image fan back during 1992...AND I WAS! HAHAHAHAHAHA. Of course, hindsight is certainly 20-20...but at least I can be a 30 year old re-discovering these reading gems at a time in my life when I know I will enjoy them :)

I'll keep listening to the podcast :)

Well, if you've been listening to Dream Theater lately, they might as well have a new singer as their drummer Mike Portnoy has been performing recorded vocals a LOT more...lol.

The vocals in that group were hit and miss for me for a long time...but they've grown on me to the point that no other singer could capture their essence if they were to change now :)

Happy Friday, May 24 in the year 2019! Almost ten years after my initial post on this story thread! I felt it most appropriate and fitting for me to issue this post on the thread that announced my passionate return to Valiant all those years ago. With the exception of purchasing the six issue "Life and Death of Toyo Harada" series from Dysart and co., I am currently done with collecting and reading Valiant for the time being. Part of this is my move into/enjoyment of sci-fi/horror novel reading that takes up time, plus i'm also back into creating music on a regular basis, and being a full-time working father...it all adds up! I've also found that I've been losing interest in what VEI is putting out the last year or so, especially since DMG's takeover. It is what it is. But I am SO thankful to have had the experience I've had being a Valiant fan this last decade. Meeting new friends, becoming a podcast co-host (and theme-song creator :)), growing into a stronger man in so many ways.

Thanks to you, the Valiant Fan-mily for everything! I have been and will continue lurking 'round these parts. But I felt compelled to say this today. Have an awesome weekend and rest of your 2019 guys 'n' gals!

Been there.

Nice to hear from you. Certainly not AT ALL in your category, but another old-timer that faded away and returned again.

Hope all is well for you and yours.

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.

In addition, I'm right.
