Wow, that really says a lot. I think board member euphoria and board members bidding against each other really propped up the Harby #1 market and once everyone had theirs, there was no one left to prop it up! I can't believe at that price that there wasn't a bidder. I thought I would never own one of these, but it looks like I might get one afterall. But I'll wait even longer now and see where it finally hits bottom.

I would not be overly worried about SCS on these. I assume they are still getting put in the old-style inner wells. In order to get SCS from that, unless there's an overhang, you need a combination of a poorly executed hold-down and a very sharp impact.SnotDrip wrote:Your talking Swine flu rightGGSAE wrote:I think buyers are even more hesitant to buy knowing some of these have been shipped all over the continent.

Lets face it , some of these have been passed around more times then my ex-fiancée
If they are in the new style well I would be more worried.
The continuing effort of "desirable items" to lose money on these is pretty incomprehensable.

Iggy,
I know you are doing a lot of work on this and I am very appreciative.
If you'd like to improve upon the most excellent and useful work you are doing, I think at this point it may be wise to start tracking the CGC serial numbers of the books in that first post. Might tie things together a bit more.

I actually thought about doing that too but it's hard to make out the serial #s in some auctions. I will go back and add the serial #s if readable.

Updated 1st post with serial #s. The only one without a serial # is the current auction from platinumcomics below. Maybe one of you would be kind enough to buy it and let me know what the serial # is.

EDIT: I ping'ed the seller to see if he can provide a scan of the label. I will update the 1st post if he replies.

So he's got a 15,16,17 from one invoice and an 018 from a different invoice? What are the odds?

Bidding on this book is extremely volatile right now. People where buying at $1000.00 the supply kept coming.... People where buying at $600.00 the supply kept coming ...
I've been bidding on these books and thankfully haven't won any yet. I've been consistently lowering my bids with each new auction because I don't want to be left seeing another batch of Harby 1 9.8's hit the market and see the price drop substantially further. The thought of buying in at $600 and seeing an auction end a week or two later at $300-400 makes me cringe.
I have a feeling that a substantial cache of this book has been found and particular seller(s) know this. Think about it, if you knew you had a bunch of sought after books and there was a very good chance that more are about to hit the market won't you try to sell your stash before the others?
You’d most likely take a greater hit if someone else ends up selling at the current market support levels before you.
I definitely would sell all my wares and wouldn't blink.
Speaking to Desirable, I have a suspicion he was betting on some Harbinger news at the Comic Con. Since that didn’t materialize he’s decided to take his losses and move on.

Great work in this thread.

Yep. Even if these go back to showing up for sale every once in a while, this current onslaught may play into a depressed price on this book for a while to come.Escaflown4 wrote:This is what happens when sellers flood the market. The smart way would be timing and pacing their sales like one every few months. Without any bids last time with a $649 starting bid and re-listing it with a $599 starting bid (and not getting any bids so far), desirableitems has decided to INCREASE the starting bid to $699 tonight.iggy101us wrote:desirableitems relisted with $599 starting bid. 1st post updated.
