That was the feeling I took from it as well. Sad for VEI but I'm pumped to see what Jim does at DH.Heath wrote:I could be wrong, but I bet it's also related to this quote:Draco wrote:I think if you read the rest of the quotes, it basically means he has made a decision to stick with one job at a time.leonmallett wrote:I think we all do.Heath wrote:EXCELLENT interview, JC! Thanks so much for doing this. I was really disappointed at VEI not getting these properties AND Jim Shooter, but after reading the interview I am quite excited about this endeavor.

Now I want to know just how that was meant and what the story is behind it!!
...
Not something DH asked of hi, more something he feels better about himself.
Of course the flip side is that he maybe found the guys at VEI very lacking in experience and possibly a bit amateurish

What should be really interesting is the development of the direction and vision he had for Magnus and the others. It certainly has potential. Kudos to DH and look forward to seeing some good stuff.

As for VEI, with shooter at DH along with the GK properties...I guess it's so long, and thanks for all the fish or better yet, We apologize for the inconvenience.

Are you the one that picked up the Anthony Castrillo double page he had up the other day? I inquired and they said it just sold

I think we're better off, because we're going to get on-going stories from 3 of the old Valiant characters, which is better than anything we've received in the past 10+ yearsxodacia81 wrote:This could be. Nice read, bummer that he does not want to work with VEI anymore as others have stated, that was one of my main questions as well. VEI owns some seriously amazing properties, one can only speculate what is going on over there but I know that if I owned such property I would really take it to the next level without fear or hesitation. Easier said than done though, of course. Really glad we get to see Shooter write for these beloved characters again, in fact it will bring me back to comic shops for new titles for the first time since I was a kid. [Actually since he was working on that DC legions title, but that was short lived and not that interesting so that doesnt count much, I was pretty much scouring quarter bins for valiants at that point]. I guess I am in the minority when I say that if Valiant release new titles it wont be "Competition" with the DH books. Ha, only cause I'd easily buy both. Excited, bummed, what can ya do? Hoping VEI does the right thing with these characters and lets them see the light of day...

I suspect more likely a relative lack of capital and focus being elsewhere (ie trying to get the Holywood dollar instead of producing comic books as a first priority).

Yea, you'd have to have more of a leg to stand than just a novelty dead universe to really generate alot of interest from big investors. It all starts with the Comics..

No Shooter and no Layton, will VEI actually have anything to offer to Valiant fans other than the characters themselves? and not even all the characters since the GK3 are elsewhere.Heath Fitts, Pineville, LA: I really enjoyed the new stories you did for the Harbinger and Archer & Armstrong hardcovers. Does this deal with Dark Horse prevent any future collaboration with Valiant Entertainment, Inc.?
Jim Shooter: I wish them well, but I won’t work for them anymore. Mike never asked me to be exclusive. He didn’t have to. This is what I want to do.

Thats what Im afraid of.
I say its pretty much in the toilet. I just have a fear that if VEI actually puts out books [which I doubt], they will be like the later Valiant....very little universe related with hard to look at coloring with horrid story telling

Wh put em out at all if thats the intent? I highly doubt that they would not learn from the mistakes of post-unity Valiant but what do I know

Yeah, I've got no insight at all and what little I've heard could be rubbish, but it doesn't sound like people like working with VEI at all. Dino has always seemed shysterous to me anyway.Brother J wrote:You might be right:400yrs wrote:I wonder if there hasn't been new hardcovers because no one wants to do work for them any more?Heath wrote:Jim Shooter wrote:I wish [VEI] well, but I won’t work for them anymore.![]()

Yeah, I have to back up the Layton and Shooter quotes here and ask the obvious question: What is VEI doing to actually drive these people away?

That seems unfair.400yrs wrote:Yeah, I've got no insight at all and what little I've heard could be rubbish, but it doesn't sound like people like working with VEI at all. Dino has always seemed shysterous to me anyway.
I have been upfront about my doubts about VEI (specifically their motivations and their focus), and I have consistently stated the reasons for those doubts, but to label them or board members associated with them as 'shysterous' seems in bad form, unless there is something to support the accusation.
