Still nothing.

I plan to post at least once a month in this thread simply because I don't think VEI are going to publish comic books, and though it may make me a negative nelly, and I want to be proved wrong, I don't think I will be...

Im still not sure about this whole thing to be honest.

Having had several people here say they know things but cannot say can be seen as positive, but then again if they have something to gain by maintaining that stance, then of course we are still none the wiser.

Being a positive kind of guy although logic normally controls my beliefs, im slowly leaning towards the ultimate secret publishing schedule being mapped out as we speak.

As for a plan being mapped out - I am sure there is one: I just don't think that new comic books are spear-heading that plan, I stand by my view that that has probably never been the focus...

That is the plan that I believe they are following. That is why I am pessimistic about VEI and comic book publication.

I still want to be proven wrong, though.

Given the news about Shooter doing business with DH, this should kick start some news possibly.

Seing as shooter has already done some small work with VEI in the hardcovers, we know he has some interest in the properties still ( or maybe it was just about the money he was offered).

As he kick started the GK characters and never got the chance to finish his work does that mean he has more interest in them than the ones he added to the GK ones he rebooted.

Also as he is the fans choice to help re build the Valiant universe, i wonder what his contract with DH states regarding working with VEI again?

Would this help to build a relationship with DH for VEI or scupper it.
If he cannot work with VEI due to his ties to DH who would come in to do the reboot instead.

So basically the DH/GK news may create more questions than it answers.

One doesn't mandate the other. VEI will announce when they feel the time is right for them, if they (ever) have anything more to annouce.
Seing as shooter has already done some small work with VEI in the hardcovers, we know he has some interest in the properties still ( or maybe it was just about the money he was offered).
I suspect a mix of money and fondness for the work he did, and an opportunity to vent about Massarsky, Layton and BWS, and seemingly claim credit for almost everything, in the A&A HC interview.
As he kick started the GK characters and never got the chance to finish his work does that mean he has more interest in them than the ones he added to the GK ones he rebooted.
I doubt that. I suspect he has just moved on. Harbinger was a property he was developing elsewhere so he had a personal investment in more than the GK3.
Also as he is the fans choice to help re build the Valiant universe, i wonder what his contract with DH states regarding working with VEI again?
Not every fans choice, neccessarily...
Would this help to build a relationship with DH for VEI or scupper it.

I doubt any relationship is of any interest for Dark Horse. They have invested to exploit commercial opportunities - why share that to support a comic book company [sic] that isn't publishing comic books.
So basically the DH/GK news may create more questions than it answers.

:hm:
I disagree - the same questions remain, and they seem to remain unanswered.

OK, first, you have to peel the luncheon meat off the sandwich and throw it like a frisbee, preferably sticking to something with a loud "smack."

No, seriously... that's a scene from the movie "The Breakfast Club."

I know everyone here is all about Valiant, but the majority of the comic community still has a bad taste in their mouths about the books. When I go to any store and ask about Valiant stuff I get a look like I am from another world. I dont truely believe there is enough interest from the general comic readers to put out new books. I could and hope and I am wrong, but I guess we will see.

There is some truth to this. A lot of the older comic store owners still have a bad taste of being stuck with a lot of over hyped books, but I think at least a few of them realize that they are every bit as much to blame for what happened. The truth is a good book will sell, and if customers ask for it, if there is demand, even the owners who carry a grudge will stock the product.

I've thought all along that VEI had one shot at doing it right. The HC's don't count since they didn't reach the general comic reader. VEI needs to build a buzz (much the way DH is doing with the Shooter news) and deliver the goods. If they blow that one chance, these characters will be damaged goods for another decade.

even if they mess up go bust it will still come out sooner or later DH is the best chance right now, and will sooner or later persue the rest if the first stuff they put out is popular

These are my 2 points as well.

I do think that Valiant will have a chance, even the haters can remember the magic. And the magic I am referring to is good stories not investment books.

Not a logical assumption, I am afraid. Dark Horse have been clear that their new take is not a continuation of VALIANT, therefore what motive would they have to obtain the characters since such an acquistion would confuse the matter (and require a further - potentially confusing - reboot as well)?

X-0 would make a great movie and a stunning action start to the Valiant Universe comeback.

I hope they are developing that property and taking their time to 'get it right'!
