Sports/NS card trade/swap?

Post by slym2none »

Maybe this can be a thread for anyone either looking for or trying to get rid of some of their dupes and singles?

I have dupes/singles of the Upper Deck/Pyramid VALIANT cards, Unity cards, the Death Of Supermans, '94 Fleer Ultra X-Men, '94 Fleer Marvel Spider-Man, the Comic Images Wolverine "From Then 'Til Now"s, Beavis & Butt-Heads, and the Batman: Saga Of The Dark Knight cards.

I actually need only two cards as of right now, #s 4 and 131 of the 1994 Marvel Universe cards.

I personally can't see charging for any singles beyond shipping & handling. Any trades would be even-stevens.

Me neither. I've done card trades with good traders before and usually we just mail the cards to each other and that's that. Most of the time for a couple singles, a top loader and a stamped letter envelope will do.

Cataloging what I have and what I need are the biggest hurdles.

I think my wife told me that I am one card shy of the Fleer Flair set.

my wife is doing all the checklists and stuff.

I wish I had some of the Flair dupes, but my LCS was doing a trade thing back then.

I have a full box of opened and empty Flair cartons/packs... is there any interest in those sorts of things? If not, I might add it in when/if I ever get my sets up on eBay...

I've got a shoebox full of those silly boxes the Fleer Flairs came in.

Wish I could find it. I've got 5 or 6 unopened Marvel Series 3 packs in there.

...and lots of wrappers from the X-Men Fleer set. Even the Wal-Mart exclusive blue packs.

I ordered a couple of lots on eBay last week and one of them had a bunch of 1990, 1991 and 1993 Marvel cards. We were sorting them and putting together sets and I mentioned to my wife you were trying to set this up. She greeted the prospect with great enthusiasm.

I should have a rough wants/doubles list tomorrow. I am going to start with Marvel sets 1990, 1991 (5 cards shy), 1992 and the X-Men Flair inagural set. And whatever she tells me to do.

Pretty much any 1993 Marvel base cards you might need, I've got spares.

Well, honestly I only needed those two 1994 MU cards, and I have those coming to me via a CGC boardie.

But, if more people would jump in with their cards (and I know more than just 2 people here have some) then this might be a good thing.

I do have a few extra sets missing 10-20 cards each...

Just finished sorting a lot of 1991 Marvel cards from Impel given to me. I'd like to finish a set. I still need cards:

57 - Magneto
78 - Nebula
81 - Kang
135 - Quasar's Quantum Bands
136 - Dr. Octopus's Arms
162 - Marvel 1991 Checklist

and chase cards
H-2 - Hulk
H-4 - Doctor Doom
H-5 - Fantastic Four/Mole Man

I have extras, even doubles and triplicates of nearly 2/3rds of the set, so let me know if we can do any swapping. I have no duplicate chase cards though. :(

One is enough for me, my friend.

Now if anyone had any Marvel Motion cards.... somehow I ended up with only HALF a set. And a set is not more than 35 cards or something like that.

:?

I'm thinking (see 'Announcement' at the top of this thread) that some of those sets that had 'parallel sets', you know, like a parallel set that was all holofoil or had golden signatures on them that are difficult to put together... well maybe for those that have them, we can pool together our resources and help each other out. Like the Marvel Masterpieces 2007 edition had a parallel set to the commons (well to the subsets as well) of the same cards but with holofoil and then ANOTHER parallel set of the same common cards with a gold border... well, I've got some to trade and some that I need to finish up.

Just a random thought.

I will have to check tomorrow... tonight my wife and I had our first 'ballroom dancing' (yeah I vomited) and I have to be IN to work at 5 am for a secure video teleconference..... i.e. I'm taking a shower and going to bed. No worries on the chase cards though, I've got two medium boxes of chase cards, you name it and have access to more usually for under a buck.

But tonight at least I got to bump my pecker a few times into a woman I just met. Reminds me of the old days.

SPEAKING OF THE OLD DAYS...

A guy walks in to a bar and sits at the bar next to a very
attractive young woman.

Having already downed a few Cherry Bombs, she turned around, faces
him, looks him straight in the eye and says, 'Listen here, Good
Looking, I screw anybody, anytime, anywhere, your place, my place,
in the car, front door, back door, on the ground, standing up,
sitting down, naked or with clothes on, dirty, clean . . . it
doesn't matter to me. I've been doing it ever since I got out of
college and I just love it.'

With his eyes now wide with interest, he responds:
'No *SQUEE*!.. I'm SF too. What Group you with?'

Shoot... and I was going to see if I could get a Death of Superman set from you. I had three sets 'back in the day' and I guess it was my first non-sports card set, after that followed Marvel Masterpieces '92.... and I was hooked. Still am.

Guys.... if you have cards needs list, PM them to me and I will look over them this weekend. Like I said, I have over 15,000 common cards and a medium box of chase cards...

oh man, I owe somebody some chase cards (MAN, I've just been so busy... ok gotta go get the box out)

But PM me, that way I can keep track or write me at roguesf333@cox.net

Nothing anymore, I have sold off almost all of my cards now. I just have about 1000 cards of dupes and incomplete sets. I do have a set of Unity cards I am not giving up, and a stack of '70s Star Wars cards I might put up on eBay. They aren't mint by any means, but who knows???

Those 70s Star Wars cards bring back such great memories. I think that I have all of the vintage sets now but am missing stickers here and there. I suppose one day I should buckle down are really get that portion finished off, being it's just stickers and such. I remember being a kid and just going over those darn cards again and again and again. I lost all of them a long time past and then while in Germany, I got an (intra)email from a guy in Maryland who had cards for sale. Well, I just happened to be chosen to be the armed courier/escort/guard to about 13 tons of classified information (papers, magenetic meddia etc) traveling from Germany to the U.S. for destruction and it was even in the same area so I stopped in and picked up the cards. Pretty good deal, about 10,000 vintage Star Wars cards from the first two movies and quite a few stickers for $100. They'd been kept in a box since the 1970s when the first two movies came out, never been sorted just plopped in long boxes. I got a pretty good deal. I made and entire card set in all the colors for both movies; Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, plus three more sets (all colors, both movies) from friends of mine. I could have probably made more sets but just didnt set my mind to it. I was pretty happy with that, sorting the best cards and getting all those sets in mint condition (as far as cards go, I mean every single card of mine has sharp corners) and then more importantly giving those complete sets to my friends. We were all HUGE Star Wars fans, until The Phantom Menace came out and all of us stopped collecting Star Wars 'stuff' all together, even the vintage stuff.

Good times.
