I figured I take a gamble with this lot since the description was kinda vague, but I think it paid off. First off, major kudos to the seller for packaging it nicely. He had it double boxed/padded and insured for free. Here are what the books graded out using CGC standards.

Predator vs Magnus Platinum CGC 9.8
$36 shipped. Not sure if it's a good deal or not with CGC prices dropping. I don't have one yet so at least it will fill a hole.

Won another two ASM auctions which covers a run from issue #300 - 540.

Seller said #300 is in perfect condition, so we'll see what that means when I get it.

I came home from vacation and found some small packages. Finally got myself a red uncut coupon sheet for example. A bit wear that probably lowered the competition, but perfect for me. Also recently bought myself the poster for sheet and the seller threw in an extra poster. Turned out to be the painted Magnus poster I have been looking for.

Speaking of which, here are the details of those two ASM auction lots I've won. It started out pretty grisly but ended up pretty well in my favor. Now with close to 200 books being shipped to me, I was expecting a rather large box. So you can imagine how concerned I was when I saw a box similar to the size of boxes for knee high boots *you'll know if you ever shop with your significant others* sitting on my front door. It didn't take me long to figure out that none of those books inside had any bag and board protection. Now picture three stack of books lined up right next to each other with no cushion room and you will know the size of the box I was describing. A bunch of them ended up getting dented on the corners due to the usual USPS rough handling mail process. Now to add salt to injury, a huge chunk of the books had signs that either rats or insects feasted on them sometime in the past. One of the Mcfarlane Spideys even had the entire upper right corner totally eaten away. A few books had extreme water damage and two books were literally ripped to shreds from the cover. You can imagine how angry and appalled I was just looking at them. Now luckily, ASM #300 was one of the few that escaped all the damages listed and it actually looks like a descent 9.0 / 9.2. Not only that, one of the two ASM #408 in the pile was actually the extremely rare white variant cover by Mark Bagley in 7.5 / 8.0 condition. A completist Spidey collector will definitely know which book I am talking about.superman-prime wrote:a rat could have bit a hole in it and its still ebay perfect

So anyways, I was still very angry over what I've gotten because I needed a majority of them to fill a collection that I was trying to put together. I didn't hesitate to write back to the seller demanding a full refund with the hopes of negotiating a price for both the ASM 300 and 408 variant afterward. Usually sellers are a bit defensive especially with dealers selling books in bulk. So I was surprised to get a very apologetic response with the seller saying he was willing to work with me to get everything corrected. The best part was he was willing to let me take a few books to cover the cost of the return shipping. So you can imagine which books came to mind.

ASM #300 (9.0 / 9.2)
ASM #408 white variant (7.5 / 8.0)
ASM #430 (7.5 / 8.0)
ASM #431 (8.0 / 8.5)

What are people thinking of when they just shove books in a box and send them out? Even someone that doesn't regularly sell comics should know better than that.Escaflown4 wrote:Speaking of which, here are the details of those two ASM auction lots I've won. The best part was he was willing to let me take a few books to cover the cost of the return shipping. So you can imagine which books came to mind.I took a total of 4 books, ASM #300, 408 variant, 430 & 431 (Silver Surfer / Carnage) and sent the rest back to him. After emailing him letting him know that the books were on their way, he immediately refunded my payment in full that night which totally surprised me. Very rarely do you find people that will issue a refund before actually getting their stuff back. So in essence, I got the following books for exactly $10.33 (cost of return shipping).
ASM #300 (9.0 / 9.2)
ASM #408 white variant (7.5 / 8.0)
ASM #430 (7.5 / 8.0)
ASM #431 (8.0 / 8.5)
Glad to see things somewhat ended up working out for you though.

I'd say you're probably right about the guy not knowing a whole lot about comics with the way he shipped them, plus the fact that he let Esca cherry pick out the very best books and send back the rest.Daniel Jackson wrote:
