I'm a May baby too. Gonna be 30 this year..

I'm doing a LCS crawl through SF and down through San Jose tomorrow with a bunch of buddies form the comic forums. We're gonna hit 5 or 6 stores, and end the night at a theater to see the new Wolvie movie.

Good times!

Hastings does Free Comic Day? Do you have to make a purchase to get free comics?
Be careful with those though as Hastings tends to put a price sticker on them reading $.02 cents. I know that they do it here and a board member sent me one or two of the Project Superpowers books from FCBD and when you 'try' to take the stickers off it leaves A LOT of residue. To date, the ones I have are stashed as I simply cannot get the glue off the damn things, so I ended up getting them replaced.

So, I would be careful OR maybe get with somebody today to see if that is the case and if so, perhaps snag a few copies without the sticker. :thumb:

I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't really read any new books. I can guess (from reading posts here) that dead dudes are coming back somehow as green lanterns? Or maybe bad green lanterns?

It's one of the FCBD books that's supposed to be out tommorrow . . . My LCS was nice and gave me one since I've been following the GL books.

The LCS I am going to is only allowing 4 books per person. Should I get this book?

Another shop opened in town called Top 5 Comics and they are participating. Unfortunately I have to work, but the wife might take 'em...and monkeys might-well you know.

I’ve been writing a paper for school today but a bud just dropped off Blackest Night #0 and it’s AWESOME! And then I saw the 24 issue checklist on the last page. :!:

See that's just crazy. I'd like to climb on board some new monthly book-but I don't want to go down that same old road.

I'd really like to pick up a new title so that I can support the guy that decided to start a shop here in town-but...

My LCS... you could only get TWO books. That was it. The guy said, if there are any left after 4 pm maybe we can work something out. :!:

I also picked up a Marvel Masterpieces 2 2008 Galactus promotion card P9.

I got that and Black & White #1, 2 (24% off)
And a beautiful copy of Marvel Feature #4 for $4

Image

And as far as the FCBD books, it was Blackest Night #0 and The Avengers book. :?

My LCS had a grab bag with all of the FCBD comics in it and 20-30% off everything in the shop.

So I picked up GI JOE: Origins #3 and The Green lantern Chronicles Vol. 1

I wanted to pick up a couple more trades, but I am a little short on cash this weekend.

I went back and they only had left:

Galactus P9 promo cards (snagged a few)
And I picked up two of each:
Ressurrection
Savage Dragon #148
(I see The Death Defying Daredevil on the cover, I assume that is from Project Superpowers so that will fit in, I guess.)
A Planeswalker Novel: Agents of Artifice

And while standing in line, cruised to racks to get:
Mecha (June 1987 Dark Horse) 1-6 for $3.00 (hope this is the Mecha from CGW)
Barb Wire "Don't call me babe' TPB for $1.00
The Futurians by Dave Cockrum 1-3 for $2.00 (Lodestone Publishing)

It is a shame when FCBD ends up with you being more psyched about buying some old books than my 2 book limit.

Had to work today but my wife went to 2 shops for me on her lunch break from work. She got me:

Blackest Night 0
Wolverine: Origin of an X-Man
TMNT 1
Unknown Soldier 1 (says free convention edition)
Hellboy: The Mole (From last years crop of books, cool because I didn't have it)
The Avengers
Attack of the Alterna Zombies

Needless to say, I was a very happy camper.

I just looked at that list. Yeesh. I picked up #0 but haven't read it yet. If #0 is REALLY good, I might pick up just the Blackest Night and GL series and skip the GLC books since IMO, they sucked in the Sinestro Corps War.

Just flipping through it, I still can't get over how outdated DC's coloring is. I feel that way when I open any DC proper book.
