That book is for posers who like "graphic novels" but scoff at comic books. If they don't understand it that means it must be smart, right?dave wrote:i read jimmy corrigan. actually i couldn't even finish it. i don't know if it was supposed to be high art or what-but it was like you needed to be on drugs to understand it. it just rambled on and on. for a book that came highly recommended i thought it was awful.

X-Factor is REALLY good, but it's very involved. Probably need to read the last 20 issues for the current issues to have their full impact.xodacia81 wrote:Speaking of lack of Marvel, I don't see ANYTHING worth reading right now that is coming out of Marvel. Strangely, Doctor Doom and the Masters of Evil is a fun read. Light-hearted and not too heavy. I think it's part of the Marvel Adventures line which is meant to be accessible to younger readers.
The current Wolverine arc, Old Man Logan, is pretty good.

Deadpool's a cool read. What a fun, crazy character!xodacia81 wrote:Speaking of lack of Marvel, I don't see ANYTHING worth reading right now that is coming out of Marvel. If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.
Wolverine: Old Man Logan has been a decent inconsequential alternate future with some cool ties to Marvel continuity.
The Avengers books leading up to Secret Invasion were awesome and super-tight story-wise!

Hey, it's not Marvel, but did you ever read "Sleeper" from DC/Wildstorm from 2002 or so? It had two volumes, each one could easily be made into a movie. In a Watchmen style, if not theme, these are not superheroes for kiddies. Most of them aren't even heroes.

SO I finished Brath.
First off there is no end, which is lame.
But I did like the story and the characters. It was only 14 issues, which is lame. But like all Crossgen I have read, I was very interested and intrigued.
I am going to read a few quick things (I have an Aria book, Midsummer's something).
Then more Crossgen. The First is up next.

There are 4 TPBs collecting all 24 issues now, but coming out in June is a new TPB that collects all of Season 1 for $25. Season 2 will follow shortly sounds like.

Also a movie is in the works, with Sam Raimi directing and Tom Cruise starring as Holden Carver

I pretty much enjoy it all, but it depends on the book itself. I too have been really drawn to Vertigo lately. For some reason, I'm finding myself enjoying books that are either "uncomic-like" OR that give a "spin" on old genres. I keep hearing Iron Fist is good, from Marvel.400yrs wrote:What kind of stuff do you like? Super heroes? Noir? Cosmic? Old Man Logan? Any collections yet? The title alone has balls, lol.Doorman wrote:Deadpool's a cool read. What a fun, crazy character!xodacia81 wrote:Speaking of lack of Marvel, I don't see ANYTHING worth reading right now that is coming out of Marvel. If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.

So it is GOOD "young" literature? That could be fun.Jay Tomio wrote:It's really throwback, what I'd call YA if it was a novel, but it is damn fun in a way titles like this generally are not and miss.xodacia81 wrote:Dr, Doom has his own book? Absolutely 100% good time. 2 of 4 issues have hit newsstands so far. I was chuckling so much reading the first issue that my wife insisted I throw it in her to-read pile and she's enjoying it now too.xodacia81 wrote:So it is GOOD "young" literature?
