I started reading Brath by Crossgen.

Real interesting start.

I really like the Connan, sword and sorcery, D&D genre. So I am expecting to like this book.

They have introduced some cool characters in just the first few books. I am hoping to read the entire run this weekend. :hope:

Wolverine: Origins #1-25 was so-so ... the Deadpool issues were pretty fun, though. But, probably only 'cause I'm partial to Deadpool...

Next up Young Avengers #1-12

to me, brath ended up being one of the weakest crossgen books that i read-but i liked it enough to buy it all and read it. it just came short of what i had come to expect from them.

Just read the first few issues of Preacher. Wicked good. I'm intrigued.

Finished up the Sinestro Corp Wars vol 1 and 2.

For me, this was good, but overrated. I was excited after reading the Sinestro Corp War Special, which I really liked.

I think what brought these books down were the fact that there were different writers. GL by Johns and GL Corps by Gibbons and Tomasi. This is probably a rare occassion where this whole series probably reads better as individual issues, I would think since each new "chapter" or issue had a recap of the previous issue in the first few pages.

If I could've read ONLY the Johns issues, I think I would've liked this a whole lot better. The GL Corps parts of this story were uninteresting. The origin flashbacks with Vat just didn't fit the feel of the event at all and I still really don't know why it was that important to put it into the book.

If Blackest Night is going to be the same thing as this, I might pick up only the Johns written GL issues and stay away from HCs containing GL Corps issues which I'm not going to like.

It's what I get for focusing on other things back when I was in heavy into books before I took my break from comics between 2000-2006. It's funny, but it seems most of my reads lately have been VERTIGO or otherwise DC. (Marvel 1602 and Top Ten aside).

Brath is good, just as long as one doesn't expect it to be as good as Sojourn. It's almost King Arthur-ish, focusing more on what might have actually occurred IRL, not the "Camelot" mythos we all love.

Just finished Crossfire yesterday, what an incredibly awesome book. Dan Spiegle is easily one of my favorite artists right now, and Mark Evanier's text pieces on the goings-on behind the scenes in Hollywood are must reads.

Also just finished the first Fables trade, it's very good, I'll probably make an effort to pick the next few trades.

Finished the first 3 volumes of Preacher and read Areseface & Good Ole Boys from volume 4. I then read the Cassidy story that kicked off volume 5. So far, I am LOVING this series. It's not perfect, but it is damn entertaining.

I didn't read it to the end, but I've read a little more than you have, and it's a fun ride!

I am enjoying Brath so far. I like the fact that he dose not speak much. I like the narration style of the last few issues I have read.

Somehow Dark Horse's Conan book is still good.
Even their reboot makes sense with the first phase being Conan the Barbarian and the 2nd phase being Conan the Cimmerian. I imagine eventually the final phase will be Conan the King. Regardless of the annoying reboot, there is a pattern emerging and the book in general is always fun, even after Busiek left some time back.
