Out of respect for this board and the people here I wanted to ask first , before I get nasty.

If these are your ID's , please let me know.

who ever this person is ....their buying everything on ebay valiant and Defiant related.

I've been beat out of 5 or 6 auctions this week by this one person.

Just asking respectfully before I start bidding wars.

You will have to get used to that as there are many people on this board who buy as much as they can. Its best to bid your highest either at the end of the auction or with a sniper bid. Bid wars will not help your cause and most likely will drive the price past what you wanted to spend

Good luck with your future bids :thumb:

You can also try sniping programs or place manual snipes if you don't want to get into bidding wars.

Also you can visit here and check out the buy/sell/trade section frequently as members generally price things pretty fairly and they often give good deals.

Beware though that VEI_Reborn or I often snatch these up quickly so you have to be fast about it!

I thought that those eBay ID's are not really IDs at all but just to identify the different buyers as all buyers are kept anonymous now :?

So those ID's may have NOTHING to do with the persons actual eBay screenname.

This is spot on dude, the ones listed above are just made up and the letters have absolutely no bearing on the letters or numbers or lenght of the actual ebay identity, so given this you will find that you are simply being outbid by people who either want to pay more than you or are using snipe programs.

As mentioned also above you may want to wait till the last moments of the auction or set an e-snipe program to join in the fun.

Overall though if you have list requirements then put a wants list here and you may well find you get better prices condition and packagin that ebay anyway, but to start with put up a smaller list so people dont get bored scanning down a thousand issues and quit before they start.

Hope this helps.

also on a side note -- I've been looking at the personal collections some members have on the gallery page.

It's amazing what some of you have done.
Whole boxes of Harbinger 1 , magnus 0 , CGC books everywhere !
Don't some of you sleep ? LOL

The wall of CGC Shadowman books I saw was COOL.

it's great. I thought I was a serious collector until I came here.

I love this website.

The best thing you can do is not get worked up about it (besides, it only makes you look bad by ranting about it) and just bid your max amount as close to end of the auction as possible.

That's true but before EBAY changed to this "secret" bidding I used to follow a guy who bid on the same stuff as me all the time (and still does). I figured out from his bidding pattern that his new coded EBAY I.D. is p***h ... so whenever I see that, I know it's him bidding against me. Of course those letters have nothing to do with his real I.D. but his I.D. is always the same p***h

and didn't I figure out VEI Reborn's I.D. as V***R which is similar to his name here, but maybe it's just coincidence? :thumb:

It's actually not that hard to figure out the scrambled eBay ID . . .

If you click on the feedback of the SELLER and look at the feedback the seller leaves for others, you can see the unscrambled ID of the buyer. You just have to be patient and wait for the seller to leave feedback for the buyer of the item(s) you were outbid on.

Another thing to keep in mind is that increased membership on this board means increased competition for buying (both here and on ebay). We have a lot more eyes scanning the auction listings now, so the bargains are going to be fewer and fewer.

no doubt...and as stated up above, get a snipe program, put in a your max bid and don't worry about it...

If you are looking for a sniping and searching program, I highly recommend Prospector. I've been using it for years and it's great. It does thousands of searches for me in minutes with a click of a button. I love it. Plus it has sniping included. I bought the version that is $39 (one time fee) with unlimited searches and 30 snipes per month

There are some dudes with super great ultra-rare stuff. Rufus and Zero come to mind.

If you like CGC books. Do a search for Threads started by a dude named Rico.
