Finished up Red Steel last night.
I was really impressed by how long and involved the game was. I was expecting a much shorter game to tell you the truth, that was nice added surprise. The story and cut scenes are pretty interesting too. This could have been a great game if Ubisoft would have had more time to perfect the swordplay with the wiimote. Some of the sword fights are just plain aggravating because it takes so long to figure out what moves you need to execute to defeat your opponent. You won't really notice it until the later levels though when the enemy really starts fighting back hard.
I didn't think I would end up liking the game all that much, but now I'm looking forward to the release of Red Steel 2.

Just finished story mode on Elebits for the Wii. The game is an absolute blast to play.
Turning everyday places (rooms in a normal house, arcades, amusement parks, etc) into places you've got to thoroughly and frantically trash to find and capture little creatures is an incredibly, clever premise. Level design, graphics, sounds, etc are well done and they threw everything in there I can think of (you can take snapshots of gameplay, play multiplayer, create your own levels, unlock different modes, etc). And the little Power Rangers homages in there are priceless.

Traded in a few games at Gamestop (they had a special, the more games you turn in the higher the percentage, so I was able to get a new game AND have over $20 for Killzone 2 next month)... picked up Afro Samurai. Samuel Jackson saves this game. I LOVE the comic book feel and the texturing (almost as if we are painstakingly trying to go backwards in resolution and the way things look, i.e. new Prince of Persia as well). Pretty cool game to play but the damn camera SUCKS. Pretty gory as well, like in splitting a guy in half from head to groin, BUT I was able to battle some oriental pole dancers and they were 90% in the nude.
PRETTY good game... just a pass the time game.
I finally turned in Fallout 3 and Fable 2. Just could NOT get into them, all the damn statistics, abilities yadda yadda. And Fable 2 just got downright SILLY. I will probably pick up Fallout 3 again someday when the price really drop but WAY too much talking going on.

Got Pro on bowling on WiiSports. 100 points away from Pro on the golf. Much further away and crawling towards it on Tennis and Baseball (those are tough). Just plain stuck on the boxing. I can't beat the first female opponent but I've haven't been able to come up with good working strategies on boxing. FAQS usually say to rely on blocking but I still get hit. I may just declare that I reached skill my limit on that one.

I found with the Force Unleashed that all I needed to do was pick a handful of combos I likes and some force moves and I was able to get through the game with just a little effort.Daniel Jackson wrote:Normally I don't care for games that have that many combinations of moves, but hopefully I can master them quickly (otherwise I'll get bored with it and start playing another game).superman-prime wrote:ya theres a lot to it

I find myself just hacking the enemy with my lightsaber for the most part (I'm still on the first mission). I'm battling the first mini boss now and it's a little confusing. Instead of directly fighting it, I have to match a series of onscreen moves with the wiimote.etos45 wrote:I found with the Force Unleashed that all I needed to do was pick a handful of combos I likes and some force moves and I was able to get through the game with just a little effort.Daniel Jackson wrote:Normally I don't care for games that have that many combinations of moves, but hopefully I can master them quickly (otherwise I'll get bored with it and start playing another game).superman-prime wrote:ya theres a lot to it
I'm having a problem figuring out what the finishing move wants me to do. It shows the nunchuck and has four arrows coming out of it. I'm sure it's something simple, but the indicator for that move seems pretty vague to me right now.

I'm playing Halo Wars.
It's OK but building the bases is a pain because you have to hold "A" down over the spot where you want to build something and it takes forever for the circle menu to pop up and give you the various building selections (even you have more supplies and reactors to build and upgrade everything and you still have supplies left over).

The controls are easy to learn.
The combat is a blast and the missions are varied (one has the gamer trying to get civillans to cargo ships to get them off a planet while the Convent are blasting you and them).
The cutscenes are some of the best on the 360 and the story is pretty cool.
My biggest problem is building the bases is a pain because you have to hold "A" down over the spot where you want to build something and it takes forever for the circle menu to pop up and give you the various building selections (even you have more supplies and reactors to build and upgrade everything and you still have supplies left over). If they would get rid of the "charge up" to build anything on the base this game would be great but that his a major drawback for me because I really enjoy that aspect more than combat in RTS games.
I give Halo Wars a 2.5 out of 5. Play the demo or rent the game first.

Finished up 'The Force Unleashed' over the weekend. I'm torn on this one, because on one hand it's a fun game, but on the other hand it could have been so much more.
First the bad....The Wii is capable of producing better graphics, but for some reason they didn't choose to use it to it's full potential and it shows. The missions are too linear and you can't go back and explore for items you missed later on. It makes things frustrating, since part of the game consists of collecting hidden holocron blocks. Also, the game is way too short overall.
The good.... The game play is great once you master the movements (took me awhile). There was a nice variation of force moves to unlock and choose from (too many actually). The wiimote really shines with this game and adds a dimension that a regular controller can't match. The story line is well written (except for the ending, which makes little sense). The bosses were challenging and each one requires a different strategy to defeat them. I also liked the fact that when the boss life goes down to the halfway mark, you start back at that point after being killed vs starting all over. The finishing moves were awesome (once you figure out what they want you to do).
Good game, but it may be a rental for most folks since it is so short and has little replay value.

Anyone getting their *SQUEE* kicked in Resident Evil 5 like I am ?
TOTALLY new controls and a way to play the game. Conserve ammo ? WTF is THAT ? I've been replaying chapter 1-1 over and over again cause I know that I have to kill the axe man before the doors get blown away because he has a 'treasure' that I will need. Sheesh... nice graphics though.
Killzone 2... yep, kicking my *SQUEE* also. My Lord, just how many rounds DOES it take to kill a Helgast ? This is a game where that 'find cover' idea REALLY comes in handy.
I have played the demos for Wanted and Ninja Blade... both are SOOOOO fun !!! Just fun fun fun, not *SQUEE* kicking, or kinda hard, but just plain old FUN.

'Kinda' on the same genre but Dead Space will be coming out with a Wii exclusive game. Something about 'Dead Space: Recovery' or something like that.Daniel Jackson wrote:Man, I wish they made a version of R5 for Wii (R4 was one of the best games ever).
You might like it. Heck I am still trying to finish Dead Space.
