What exactly does "limited collector edition" mean?

I think those three words might take on a different meaning I don't know of when used together.

This basically means the publisher is putting out another book that no one really cares about and to push sales at retail level they are willing to do anything required including telling any potential customers bare faced lies.

Shameless, but something everone does ( well almost).

Find me a book that has that on the cover that is both limited and now as they put collectible.

Whenever I see these types of auctions I just have to wonder why they don't submit the books themselves.

He's only guaranteeing that the comic has not been altered, not that it will come back a 9.8. Very misleading auction.

I called this guy on this auction, pointed out that no one pays CGC prices for raw books, and that his raw asking price is more than 4 times what any other raw copy has sold for, and wished him good luck. Here's his pleasant response:

Like I would EVER buy any of his overpriced crap! I told him as much, and wished him good luck again, as he will need it.

I'm in. :thumb:
Dear Sir or Madam:

Is the opening bid on this Harbinger 1 correct? Was it supposed to be $37.90? That's considerably more in line with the going price for a raw Harby 1. Slabs only rarely go over $1000 on a 9.8 and specimens are particularly vulnerable to damage from the coupons inside, a factor not covered by your guarantee and not even addressed in your description. Does this copy even have a coupon? If not, a fairer price would be more like $10. 40% of the CGC 9.8 price for a raw copy on a particularly problematic issue like this is awfully optimistic.

Either way, good luck selling this book. If you get your price, that will mean mine are worth that much more.

Cheers, mate!

iggy101us wrote:Very nice copy of a classic comic. Is the Buy-It-Now price correct? I don't remember it selling for that high. Thanks.
silversurpher wrote:HI,
Thank you for your question. Yes the Buy It Now is correct......I have no control over CGC and the actual exact grade they will give the book itself, I would grade the book a CGC 9.8 with bone white pages.....Provided they agree it would retail for $1600.00 to $1800.00 dollars . They might grade it a CGC 9.6 and it would retail for around $450.00 .......or sadly they could be overtly strict and grade it a CGC 9.4 and it would retail for around $50.00 to $100.00 bucks . Having said all of this it is probably obvious that if I could predict and guarantee that CGC would grade it CGC 9.8, I would send it in and then sell the book for $1600.00 or more dollars. I have been collecting Ultra High Grade books since 1972 ....This book is a 9.8.......the risk if you decide to take it could pay off huge....worst case scenario is they grade it as low as a CGC 9.4 ( my opinion). The other option is to just enjoy a perfect copy and forget CGC......Thank you again for your interest.

I can buy 20 Harby HCs for $389. Let's see what kind of response Chiclo gets.
