You want to be part of something by proxy that you weren't part of originally. (Think of it this way: you weren't a member of the 1927 Yankees. But if you were into sports memoribilia, you'd probably not pass up a chance to own a Babe Ruth jersey from the 1927 World Series, just to say you "had it." Same principle applies here.)

You want to make money, and see these as good investment potential.

Yeah super nice. I ran into him at San Diego comicon years ago, when I hadn't thought about Valiant in years, and I said "Are you the same David Lapham who did Shadowman??" he said YES and I said "oh oh, can you draw me a quick sketch??" .... he reluctantly agreed, because he didn't even remember how to draw Shadowman and asked me to refresh his memory! I did and he proceeded to draw a few "tries" at Shadowman. He kinda laughed as he was trying to remember as he drew and then he signed it "Sorry, I tried!!!" ....Daniel Jackson wrote:Dave L sure seems like a nice guy. I can't imagine him turning down a board project signing if asked.

Dave wasn't on Shadowman for very long and that was back in the beginning when Jack wore the original blue costume. It's no wonder the poor guy forgot how to draw him.Crow331 wrote:Yeah super nice. I'll try and find that sketchbook over the holidays and show you guys
Cool story, btw. Thanks for sharing.

They cry at Hugh Grant movies.
They like the WNBA.

That sucks!
I didn't really interact much with VK, a few times...... but selling a CF book, with Alyssa's hand print on it, with out at least mentioning CF.
He is not VK to me, now he is VD.
You know a while ago I was VERY against ever selling board project for profit, especially CF books.
But my fam's financial situation has changed. I can see how being a tough $$$ situation changes things. I mean, if you are in a jam and you have something that can get you a few hundred very quickly, and maybe a few somethings, I hate to say it, but I can see it.
But a book that was done for charity. A book that was sold to help cure a terrible disease. A book that was put together (with a lot of help) by a man that watches his little girl put on a vest that bangs against her chest to loose the mucus and junk in her body everyday. and then to go and sell that book without a mention of it's purpose and why it was done.
Selling it for profit is one thing. Listen VD is no longer part of our community, so he has no allegiance, I get that. But the CF books are BIGGER than our community. They reach past our small corner on the internet.
the CF books are not: svair's harby #1 project book, or BTE's SDCC books, or Della's SM and EW books, or any other great projects that have been done for the boards. The CF books were/are done so a cure can be found for a terrible disease. To sell a CF book for profit, without even even giving words to CF and the fight against it.
He could have just mentioned CF, but he did not.
To me it is indefensible.
This makes me mad.
Lame.

Did you post a link for your auctions on the board? I may have missed it, but I didn't see one. I just placed a few bids and I'm sure the snipers will get these. Here's a link to the auctions for those who haven't seen them:jedimarley wrote:Funny. I have mine up for sale with a 100% going towards charity and a 100% match on my behalf and I have no serious bids.
VK puts all his site projects up for sale and pockets the profit and makes a killing.
It's a f@cked up world.

Yeah, I haven't seen a thread on these auctions either. This is the first I've seen of these auctions. Might want to make a thread in a few sections to push these books up.Brother J wrote:Did you post a link for your auctions on the board? I may have missed it, but I didn't see one. I know that I rarely search ebay for anything Valiant anymore so I don't notice these things if they aren't posted about here. Maybe more people are becoming like that with the economy?
I put in a few bids just to get things moving on them.
