How much were they selling for per issue ? (PLEASE don't tell me that I am going to start collecting these comics... I don't need another DU to collect, I don't need another DU to collect, I don't need another DU to be sitting out there all alone, nobody loving it, collecting it, scouring Ebay and cheap bins for it)Chiclo wrote:At WWTX, all the bargain bins seemed to have Virgin comics in them. part of being this F*****d up dude, is that you cannot control or have any say over this problem.
So toodle off and add the damn list already.

50 cents to a dollar. I loaded up on a lot of those Indian comics that I thought were an interesting idea but never wanted to pay cover price for.Knightt wrote:How much were they selling for per issue ? im gonna struggle to pay 50p for those, but even though they arent necessarrily my cup of tea, the prodcution qualities are very high here.Chiclo wrote:50 cents to a dollar. I would pay $.50 a book easy enough, but not cover either. With them being 'so new' there are chances that dealers may keep as high of a price tag on them as possible. I've always argued my point with them when I get that, 'this was a valuable book and STILL holds value'... I'd say, "It's a Dead Universe. If that book was worth something, it sure doesnt hold that value now." (and heck that may not even make sense but you know where I am coming from right ?). It's too bad that another attempt at comic book making went under but I cannot see these books for more than a $1.00 max. And I am too cheap to go a buck on a book like that. I mean, I LOVE my Crossgen collection, but I would be hard pressed to pay a $1.00 for one. And Crossgen was a GREAT run... Virgin ? Indian-What ?Draco wrote:im gonna struggle to pay 50p for those, but even though they arent necessarrily my cup of tea, the prodcution qualities are very high here.Chiclo wrote:50 cents to a dollar. If I am correct (Draco can chime in on this), there is a rather large Indian population in the UK. Perhaps the books were meant to be delivered to that culture and hopefully appeal to 'all others'. Me, when they first came out, I totally dug them but then had that 'hey, maybe there is a religious message here or something.' Just made me feel odd. But as a DU, yeah I could collect them, but I gotsta gets em on the cheaps.

Check out Dan Dare if you get the chance, a great Garth Ennis story without all the colorful language he uses in most of his other books.Draco wrote:Cannot wait to tuckinto this lot.

Speaking of Flash Gordon, has anyone read any of the new series? I love the Flash Gordon character but budget constraints have kept me from checking out the new series.Draco wrote:It looks like the English guys who have just put out a Flash Gordon book now also have the rights to Dan DareJ-Scott-R wrote:Check out Dan Dare if you get the chance, a great Garth Ennis story without all the colorful language he uses in most of his other books.Draco wrote:Cannot wait to tuckinto this lot.

Side note about Flash Gordon - at WWTX, Nick Barucci the President of Dynamite Entertainment was saying that they had obtained the license and were going to put out new Flash Gordon books early next year.
I've seen that other Flash Gordon book (by Platinum Studios, maybe?) and wonder if they haven't already recieved some sort of letter threatening legal action. Given what we suspect are Dynamite's business practices, that seems par for the course.
Nick did just look like someone that would play lawyerball that way. He looked like a street hustler that cleaned up for a day in court, but he seemed like a friendly, albeit rushed, fellow on the several occasions I got to talk to him.

All the price differences stopped with the direct market dude.Knightt wrote:Getting comics in the UK must be a b!tch.
I have some older Doctor Strange books with 6p and 9p where the American prices would be. Do you guys still get books like that or is it just the direct market same as ours here ?
Although i love the old pence copies.
I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.
