SUPERMAN AND BATMAN VS. VAMPIRES AND WEREWOLVES #1-2
http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/ ... /dcoct.htmWritten by Kevin VanHook, art and cover by Tom Mandrake.
A man is killed by a mysterious creature -- his body drained of blood. A woman is savagely attacked by a ferocious beast -- her jugular ripped out. Bat wings flutter across the moon and the howl of a wolf echoes through the streets, for the creatures of the night have risen from the grave, and humanity's only salvation is the combined might of The Last Son of Krypton and The Dark Knight Detective. Blood will run red when Superman and Batman face off against vampires and werewolves for the fate of the entire DCU!
32 pages, $2.99, in stores on Oct. 15 and Oct. 29.

Lets see:
Batman fought Dracula and became a vampire himself in 3 Elseworlds graphic novels (one of them had IIRC had Catwoman as werewolf like creature in one them).
Superman, Batman and the rest of the JLA took on a whole bunch of vampires in JLA #101-#106 (I think those were the issues) by Chris Claremont, John Bynre, and Terry Austin.

Couldn't comment on the Catwoman bit though because I have yet to read the Red Rain stuff.
The Red Rain Elseworld is now one of the 52.
The Tenth Circle. Also reintroduced the Doom Patrol. Also total rubbish story-arc.Cyberstrike wrote:Superman, Batman and the rest of the JLA took on a whole bunch of vampires in JLA #101-#106 (I think those were the issues) by Chris Claremont, John Bynre, and Terry Austin.
Other vampire stories in the DCU include the entire I...Vampire series.
There is also a DC character from the Batman series called Anthony Lupus who is a lycanthrope.
I am pretty sure John Constantine has come up against werewolves at some point and they have come up in Swamp Thing at some point.
Whilst not directly related to the issues and more towards what Jay Tomio wrote earlier, Bats, Supes and WW came up against zombies in the recent Four Horsemen limited series that spun out of 52.

There was a beautiful story in an issue of The Spectre, called "The Silver Room" that was about Hal Jordan helping a vampire to find forgiveness.

For me, my all time favorite Batman and Superman vs Vampires story is the one in the Action Comics Annual by Byrne and Adams.

I enjoyed the article very much and can't wait for the series, although it would be even better to you doing some new Bloodshot stories in the near futureVanHook wrote:I thought Jeff did a nice article on the mini-series--

RE: Kevin VanHook signing in New York on October 15th
I mentioned this in the general Valiant section--
Tom Mandrake and I are doing a signing at Jim Hanley's Comic Universe in NYC on the 15th of October (next Wednesday). The first issue of Superman and Batman vs. Vampires and Werewolves comes out that day. Of course, I'll be signing any other work I've done as well.
And if it's slow... I'll do sketches.
Best,
KV

picked up issue #1 tonight and already read it. Great stuff! A book that makes you feel like you really got your monies' worth after you've read it, which is sometimes rare these days. The shop I picked it up from had only one copy left, so I got the last one. I asked the guy behind the counter if they sold a lot of them or just didn't order many. He said they sold 25 copies today, which I'd say is probably pretty good for a small shop in the suburbs.

With a title like that, along with Vanhook writing and Tom Mandrake on the art, I figured I would give it a shot, and I'm glad I did. This book is great. With the RIP crap going on in the Batman titles, it was a breath of fresh air to get a good Batman story that didn't take me all of two minutes to read and the great Mandrake art sealed it for me. I'm Vanhooked
, can't wait for the rest of the series.

Thanks, but I don't need to see "a little more before you buy it --"VanHook wrote:For those who'd like to see a little more before you buy it--

It has Kevin VanHook writing and Tom Mandrake art. With all of the great comics you produced in the past, you're both on the short "buy before I try" list.
Got it on Wednesday -- read it -- completely enjoyed it! Anxiously looking forward to the next five parts.
Great job as usual, Kevin!

RE: Thanks, Steve!
I appreciate that--So far, people seem to enjoy it. I know I've gotten a kick out of writing Batman in particular.
An interesting thing I just hadn't thought about...
The book's getting a great reaction from the Wonder Woman fans out there.
Later,
KV
