good deal!JustCallMeAric wrote:My bad,Brother J wrote:Was there one listed there and you bought it?JustCallMeAric wrote:http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... 935&sr=8-1I didnt think about it removing the price. I got it for $23 shipped.

I picked up Shadowman #2, 3 ... Unity 0 ... Valiant Reader 1 .... XO Manowar 3, 4 and Solar #57 out of the $1 box at my local monthly comic book convention. Good deals I thought ... all NM
Also, not Valiant related, but I came across the original painting to this paperback cover from early 1970. The guy didn't know where it was from and sold it to me for $120 .... I came home did some searching around and figured out where it came from!
Oh and I also met Adrienne Barbeau and got her to sign a japanese program from the movie THE FOG
which I had John Carpenter sign 2 years ago at San Diego Comicon

I went there a few times; occasionally there was some good stuff but I dunno about currently since I haven't been there in a while. First time I went there was in early 2003, and I found one of the Unity Diamond TPBs there for $10. I think I also got Quantum and Woody Magnum Force there, too.Elveen wrote:I've never gone to the Shrine show....... is it worth it? But I dunno about now; I'd imagine with all the talk about Valiant there'd be less bargains to go around.
The good thing about the Shrine is it's not the San Diego Comicon. There's guys there who have stuff in their $1 boxes that they have no idea if stuff has become worth something again because they have no idea what's in the boxes! Everything is just $1 and nothing is in order so be prepared to literally go through tons of boxes. I was hoping for more Valiant but I thought I got a decent stash. I think these guys have the same stuff month after month and just hope someone comes in wanting it. I probably wouldn't go back looking for Valiant stuff again for another year. There are definitely deals to be had though if you are looking for other stuff. Everyone has $1 boxes.
Here is a pic of the painting. The artist's name is COPELAND (last name?) but that's all the info I have. Conflicting info online as to when this cover was actually made. The original story was published in 1957 with a different cover. Then it was re-issued in the 70's (either '71 or '78 from what I can tell) with a new cover, which is the one I bought. Anyways, I dig it. I wish I could find out more about the artist though
I found the paperback for sale on Amazon for $1 so I'm hoping to get more info when it arrives. If anyone finds out anything, let me know. Thanks!

Keith, eh? Loved some of his early work. Didn't like his Aliens-Earth War stuff. Cool statue.siren3-4 wrote:I agree . . it looks great .. what is the size of the painting ?Brother J wrote:That is a gorgeous piece for $120. Even I would have bought that and I am a notorious cheapskate.Crow331 wrote:

Yes, the Unity #0 that arrived was a Red, the Bloodshot #0 was a VVSS and the Armorines #0 was the "stand alone" version.
