It would be pretty neat if the end result of Secret Invasion was that teh skrulls win, and the earth is now occupied, and the heroes are putting up soem sort of "secret resistance".
Ah yes, the secret resistance that everyone knows about including the Skrulls :P :thumb:
Maybe the heroes can all wear skrull masks so the skrulls won't know who is who. You know, use their tactics against them..

Wow, those masks are cool. I bet they would scare the *squee* out of kids on Halloween

It looks like the skrull swapping was done fairly recently. At least so far anyway.

Not sure if anything's getting ruined. The Skrull infiltration is dating back about three years to just before the beginning of New Avengers. There's no retroactive "this guy was a Skrull since way back when" stuff.

If someone's a been a Skrull in a series the writer has known and planned that for almost the entire time (the Captain Marvel miniseries, all the characters Bendis has been writing in the Avengers titles, etc). It's essentially an overgrown Avengers story by Bendis, so most of this stuff is dealing characters he's written in the last so many years.

Except for Spider-Man. Spider-Man has been a skrull all along.

Batman too.

Not really. I don't think there is anything wrong with giving a character a respectful end and letting him go out on a high note. Sure the book is great now but we all know there be tons of sucky creative teams that will come after this that will drag the character through the mud again.

Steve had a good run and had just about every story told with him imaginable. Let him go out when his story's good and let the saga move on. There's still plenty of Steve Rogers that are still being involving his past (Captain America White, 1985 and Avengers/Invaders) and outside the Marvel Universe (the Ultimate line, Captian America: The Chosen and Marvel Adventures Avengers). To me it's a win-win.

Not to me. I'm old school. I grew up reading comics in the 70's during the bronze age and loved reading books like Cap, Thor, Avengers, etc.

I'll never consider anyone other than Steve Rogers as Captain America

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

The sect of the Skrulls in Secret Invasion didn't form until after Galactus ate their Homeworld (during Byrne's Fantastic Four in the 80's). They didn't perfect their method of replacing heroes with undetectable Skrull agents until about 3 years ago (as far as published comics go). So any replacements older than 3 years back are highly unlikely unless the Skrulls are using time travel.

I'm actually hoping that's true because the Spider-man comics have really started to suck since this whole One More Day nonsense... "I'm Overdrive and my villain power is that I can pimp out cars." ...really??? I'm just noticing that his title isn't having much to do with Secret Invasion so I'm hoping that's hinting to something towards a rewind.

Other than that... am I the only one having trouble following the Secret Invasion storyline? I don't know if it's because I'm not reading any of the spin off titles (Just the main title) and maybe there is more going on in them, but it just seems like a whole lot of nothing is going on (other than the fact that Iron Man might be a skrull and hopefully ending all the Civil War crap)

That's something at the end of House of M...

SPOILERS

Basically in House of M, Scarlet Witch has her powers cranked up past 10 and can alter reality with her thoughts. She's also losing her mind. So at the beginning, for various reasons, she recreates the world pretty much the way her father would've wanted it: a mutant-ruled "utopia" with Magneto at the top. Like most alternate reality crossovers, the heros realize that reality isn't right, band together and fight until they win and the Earth returns to the way it was.

Except here, right at the end, Scarlet Witch who's still crazy and now *SQUEE* as hell is fed up with her father and mutantkind. She says "no more mutants." When normal reality returns the majority of mutants on the planet are depowered (including herself) and no more mutants are being born. About 200+ remain empowered. Just about every hero I can think of from an X-book still has their powers. Here's a list of the still powered:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimation ... ng_mutants

The problem is that, if this doesn't change, within a generation their won't be any mutants left on Earth. But the storyline evolved over the years. There was a newborn mutant baby that the recent X-Men crossover Messiah Complex revolved around.

Secret Invasion (the mini) has been OK . . . Secret Invasion (all the tie in books) has been really, really good . . .

I don't know why they did that . . the Avengers tie-ins (mighty & New) have been great . . filling in all kinds of major holes in the story, I mean really huge necessary holes . . .

I bit the bullet and have been reading everything so for me it's been a really good series . . . I can't imagine just reading the Mini alone, It must feel like nothing has really happened . . .

Spidey has been going back and forth every 3 issues between 2 different writers . . . 1 is pretty good . . the other- not so much . . .

Like most Marvel crossovers in the last 3 years, if a title is too "busy" to break from it's storyline to do a tie in, Marvel releases a tie-in miniseries with the character. The Secret Invasion Spiderman miniseries will be starting very soon (if it hasn't come out already).

I'm not sure what to tell you about following the miniseries. I was having absolutely no problems following the miniseries without the tie-ins.

I've gotten a bunch of tie ins recently. The ones I got (the Bendis Avengers titles, the Secret Invasion special, etc) mainly just give background information, basically if you have to know specifically how such-and-such hero was replaced, what the green haired chick at S.W.O.R.D was doing before Secret Invasion 1, how Nick Fury gathered his team of heroes, etc. So nothing that's particularly vital to anything but a lot of it is very interesting, good reading.

There are tie ins that flesh out some of the subplots like the Fantastic Four miniseries tells what happens to them after the Baxter Building gets sucked into the Negative Zone, if you feel like that's something you're missing.

Hopefully you're not just reading this waiting for retcons to fix the things you find wrong with the marvel universe. It's been stated in no uncertain terms by Marvel that Stark is not a Skrull and that Secret Invasion will not be used to explain away Civil War, World War Hulk, etc.

The complaint that Secret Invasion has been slow is one that I have seen repeated many times by many different folks. It really feels like very little has happened, and that the story isn't moving along much.

The tie ins haven't been plugging holes in the story, it's more like they are providing a lot of background. I am reading the New/Mighty Avengers tie ins, and they are explaining more background than pluging in holes in the story. They explain when so and so became a skrull, and how, and what Nick Fury has been up to since he went into seclusion.

I don't think the other tie ins are plugging any holes in the story, because I don't realyl feel like I am missing something with just the main mini.

Well, like I said before, it may just be me. I just know when I'm reading this story it doesn't really feel like I'm reading anything. Like maybe big things are happening (should be happening) somewhere... just not here.

I've heard Marvel claim that they won't retcon things before, like revealing Spider-man's identity, and yet here we are not knowing who Spider-man is again in one of the worse retcons in the series... but I digress, as this isn't a Spider-man topic. :thumb:

I might try reading the Averngers' titles and see if I don't feel like I'm getting more of a story.

I will try reading just the mini books again and see if I get a different feeling . . . It might just be that I am really enjoying the tie-ins . . .

Other than the whole "who is a skrull?" thing, I don't feel like a whole lot has happened in this series either.

Kinda like WWH.

Endless series that never advance a thing. That's why I have pretty much given up on DC & Marvel. :(
