Yeah, I remembered this set coming out a few (what, like fifteen now?) years ago, and decided that I probably couldn't live without it (I really liked it when it first came out but wasn't about to pay those prices). I believe the Kindred is the last one I need, so obviously that seemed like the hardest for me, but it's been a very casually put together puzzle. Gen 13 wasn't easy, but probably has the highest print run(?), I think it just wasn't easy because of how many different volumes the book had (and huge number of variants) make it difficult to sort the book properly in back issue bins (or at least not worth the time related to how the books sell). I know very little of (relatively) early Image print runs myself. Good information. In my mind, the Deathblow was also a desired piece, but that could be the bias of a young fan's interpretation and memory.

It took almost a year for all the "pieces" to come out, which killed it for demand.

Yes, Deathblow #5 was actually the first to come out, and was also very much in demand. I think, in order of value, it was Deathblow, Kindred, Gen 13, Wildcats, and then Stormwatch...and then many months for Team 7, Union, and of course, Wetworks #2.

It is, however, a BEAUTIFUL set, and putting all 8 together makes a glorious picture. If I'm not mistaken, this was the first time this was ever done in comics (with different titles, and 8 covers.)

They did it again with Quesada, but it wasn't anywhere near as impressive.

I did really like Portacio's art when this came out as another perk. Additionally, the coloring (particularly on the Deathblow book) made it really interesting to look at. I didn't really that it took so long for them all to come out, but I don't think that I was reading any of these books at the time. It's pretty obvious now though (especially Wetworks). I'm kind of surprised (but glad) that with that kind of delay, they bothered with the variants.
