VALIANT Toys II
For me, action figures are not enough for a toyline. Besides action figures, there have to be vehicles and playsets.
Which toy company would you guys like to see manufacture a line of VALIANT toys, and besides the characters what playsets, vehicles, and maybe even life-size replicas (i.e. LJN's Sword of Omens) would you like to see?
For me, far as playsets go:
Muskogee reactor
Rainbow Tower
North Am Milespire
Andromeda's Island
Japan (transforming dragon form/cityscape multi-piece playset - pieces can include Grandmother's brain, Rai pod, Government palace, Anti-Grannie hide out, etc)
Aric Dacia's upstate compound (with some comic booky/toy additions)
Harbinger Foundation Headquarters
Camp Pendelton playset (with Armorines training domes)
Project Rising Spirit (with Bloodshot Procedure operating room)
The Ranch playset
Cantenbury mansion/Ninjak hideout playset
The Palisade
MI 5 Heathrow Airport headquarters
The Mission playset (with Visitor hideout)
For vehicles, Spider Alien ships are a most, but what else would be good?
As for life-size replicas, Solar's visor and Timewalker's compass come to mind.

I picked Matell only because I really like the new DC UNIVERSE line. I think that a VALIANT DIRECT line like DC’s might be better in producing a wider selection of figures though.
My big concern with a major toy company is that we’ll see 30 paint variations of X-O but never get a nice range of of figures.

It worked for Todd McFarlane.

I like the idea of VEI having their own "DC Direct/McFarlane Toys"-like division, but is it something they could sustain?
McFarlane doesn't only produce toys based on Spawn, he's gone after some heavy licenses, like Lost, Simpsons, baseball, and MANY more.
VEI would need to do something similarly agresive to justify the expense of such a division.
DC Direct can produce toys at a loss (like they do their comics) because they're a division of AOL-Time-Warner, or whatever it's called today.
Yeah, just being somewhat sarcastic. McFarlane’s rock stars have been great as well as the sports figures. They could be a really good choice if willing to do more Direct Market stuff.ManofTheAtom wrote:sanman wrote:Can’t stand McFarlane but you have to give the guy credit—his figures rock! Indeed, starting an in-house toy division would be tough for VE and probably unrealistic. Still, I think a smaller company might be willing to do more with the line than one of the "big box" regulars.
My main interest is in picking up Mothergod’s Really Big Biologically Enhanced Dinosaur with Impaled Aric Dacia Between the Teeth Playset—some reassembly required.

Just be aware that it'll take ten years inside the manowar to reassembly Aric

Actually I put it together on the fly when I made the postgeocarr wrote:From your first post I can tell....you've really put some serious time and thought in this!

Second, where's ice cream? I want a poll choice for Ben and Jerry's to make the toys!

Licensed Ben & Jerry ice cream based on the VALIANT characters.
What's X-O Manowar's flavor? Or Flamingo's and Faith's?

Mattel? Let me tell you what will happen with Mattel.
Your first wave of figures would be:
Shadowman
Eternal Warrior
Eternal Warrior WWII Variant
Eternal Warrior Savage Variant
Archer
Armstrong
D'Arque (w/Zombie)
Immortal Enemy
However, in a case of 8 figures (which is how Mattel distributes), you would get:
3 Eternal Warrior
2 Eternal Warrior Variants
1 Master D'Arque or Immortal Enemy (random, with D'Arque at a 3-to-1 ratio to IE)
1 Shadowman
1 Armstrong or 1 Archer (random, with Armstrong at a 3-to-1 ratio to Archer)
After two months of only being able to find Eternal Warrior figures, we stop buing EW figures.
Stores will then notice that they have tons of EW figures sitting on their shelves, assume the line is doing horribly, and cut back their orders... increasing the EW to alternate toys ratio. Then, Mattel will say it is the fault of the fans that the toy line isn't doing well, and they will ship all of their extra stock to Aldi with no announcement - trampling over agreements in place with Toys'R'Us and Wal*Mart about the order of distribution, which they will also then try to blame on the fans.
Not that I'm still bitter over the debacle that was case ratios for the new He-Man figures...

I vote Hasbro. Purely on the basis of their long running and always SWEET Transformers range. I grew up on those damned robots in disguise and that kind of detail would be so good on a manowar armoured Aric or Malev bot.
Anyway its great to be able to post again I finished uni today (well yesterday as its 7am now...aaahh well, sleep is for the weak)

I say Mattel....I see you were bashing case ratios but they have corrected that and I like the DCUC figures better than ML.I think The Horseman would do an outstanding job with these figures....The downside is this will never happen...Our best chance died with LCBH.Let's face it,unless these characters make a HUGE comeback and the economy gets betterValiant figures are a long shot at best....Don't get me wrong I'd love a Solar figure or a Rai or any of the many others I love but it's a very slim possibility. Then again I never thought MOTU would return and now I can't wait to get King Grayskull!!
"I wish this would stop."
I don’t know about that. I believe that Valiant would only have to make a modest comeback and some small company might be willing to pick up the line. Two companys come to my mind: NECA as with the Mirage TMNT and Shocker as with a number of independent properties including a LEGO-like GK Dr. Solar. Further, lets not forget that Marvel has started to venture out with independent character figures too.Leatus IV wrote:Our best chance died with LCBH.Let's face it,unless these characters make a HUGE comeback and the economy gets betterValiant figures are a long shot at best....
