I'm sure you are right ... plus there is the Unity 0 green and Solar #10 white that still needed to be added.valiantdude wrote:i coulda swore i read somewhere on this forum that there is a unity 0 red/blue that was somekind of con giveaway. whats the deal, is this yet another of the slew of comics that needs to be added to the checklist this month?

Ok, I think that was a "quick comment" about Unity 0 Red/Bluevaliantdude wrote:i coulda swore i read somewhere on this forum that there is a unity 0 red/blue that was somekind of con giveaway. whats the deal, is this yet another of the slew of comics that needs to be added to the checklist this month?
that meant to say Unity 0 Red and Unity 0 Blue.
(You don't get red & blue on the same comic)
At the 1992 San Diego Con, the Valiant team was there and they
were signing copies of Unity 0 at their table. Of course, most of the
books that were signed were Unity 0 Blue, but there were a few Unity 0 Red.
They have about 7 or 8 signatures each, in a metallic ink.
This was before VVSS, actually it was before Unity was a "success".
Those are technically just "signed copies" of the same Unity 0 books we have.
They don't have an embossed seal on the comic or a certificate from Valiant.
So, they aren't really candidates for the checklist because there's no
official source that has ever described them as an official book.
I guess they're a lot like the Deathmate tourbook...
which can be seen in both signed and unsigned states,
but judging from the number of Unity 0 books with 7 or 8 signatures
that I've ever seen, I'd say Deathmate tourbook signed
is much, much more common.

Re: Solar White?
Sorry ... I should have been a little clearer. Here is a link/pic of the Unity #0 green variant. Just goofing off a little, based on a claim that someone saw a Solar #10 (newstand?) edition that was white.Steve G. wrote:Hi-
Maybe I've been hidden under a rock for too long, but I've NEVER heard of a Unity #0 Green or a Solar #10 White. Does anyone own these? I was trying to be realistic about adding stuff like Harbinger TPB 2nd Print or Rai #0 (Cover Paper Variant---aka Glossy), but now it's getting ridiculous!---Steve G

Good stuff! I did mine with paintbrush I think, I tried to make it look pretty bad, so people would know it was a joke. Still, I'm not expert with PS, but I'll give some a shot! You should see some of Bofa's dressups, if you haven't already ... awesome!Shakespeare wrote:This one is pretty cool. It's amazing how PhotoShop can make anyone look good...

I would send an ambulance to help valiantdudeIneedhelp, but he doesn't even tell us where he is.
Seriously, though, if you can’t take a jab in the ribs, you better not even get on a message board, dude. I’ll apologize when I see Solar #10 white. Chances are it was a custom job, like that Bloodshot #1 on e-bay last year.

Jezz, lets tone it down a bit. Many people read theses boards that are not registered uses and just come to hang out, and explore what we have to offer. One of the reasons I signed on to this board last summer was the overall friendly tone(yes, we have had some squabbles but all in all we still get along)
Also remember, this is Greg's sandbox and we are here by "invitation"

I'll bet no one thinks that Geomancer #1 needed a chromium...after all, chromium is techno and Geomancer's all about natural earthy things.
Maybe these would have been better choices...

I don't think this is true. I see varying faint lines on the cover that make me think it was printed. Anyone know for sure? Certainly, the interior of the stock is white, as someone with a copy that has "Valiant" corners or bad spine impressions can tell you.
Now, if it was true, it would make it hard to image a White Solar being anything but a "custom job" as someone said previously.

Shakespeare wrote:Actually, I think that Solar #10 was printed on black stock...the paper they used was black (on one side or two? I don't have mine here) so the cover wouldn't have ever gone through a printer, just an embosser.
Probably.

Getting this thread back on topic...
I took a scan of my signed Unity 0 Red...
These books (both blue and red) were signed at the 1992 San Diego Con.
(It's a large scan, so I'll use a link instead of putting the scan here.)

Me too. I've got a regular signed Unity with all those sigs in almost the same position - even Howard Simpson's 'HS' up by the title and the squiggle (that's BWS' early 90s sig btw) down left. I remember waiting in line at San Diego that year. Hot as heck and everybody - creator and fan alike - was getting cooked thru the Convention Center's glass windows.

ok..I did get a little *SQUEE*. but i am really tired of people who spend entirley too much time on this forum (avg. posts per day) being totally dismissive about things they have no clue about. Yes, I did see a all white solar comic at a con in early '93, I dont think it was a newstand, maybe it wasnt #10, but it was a blank comic with a Solar logo, with a bunch of signatures in the 'o'. What was it? Draw your own conclusions. I do realize that kids might read this forum , so I do apologize to greg and anyone else that was not applicable to my now censored rant, that was offended. I certainly remember when BS#0 plat. was just a rumour and people reacted the same way. Not to mention the fact that I have seen ONE OF A KIND Valiant items that no one has ever talked about on this forum. So dont treat me like an idiot because I know what the hell I am talking about, and that is what peeved me. And the funny thing is the people with the assinine comments are usually the ones that post the most ridiculous questions. In conclusion I know what I am talking about, so please dont dismiss what I say, you wouldnt like me when I'm angry.
