What Earl neglected to mention is that it was an unsigned copy. As we know, there are supposed to be 1,000 signed copies. However, who knows how many unsigned ones there might be out there? Maybe less than 10? I'm sure they were just extras in case some of the 1,000 got screwed up. I knew it would go for more than the usual copy of this book, but not quite THAT much. :o

Well that would be noteworthy but from my understanding, only signed books were supposed to be distributed with no plans for unsigned copies, so 'leftover books' hold no interest for me and I sure as hell would not pay crazy money for one. Now if I could get my hands on the copy of 1/1000 in the series, I might plop down some cash on that one OR a copy with the gloves and cert but at this time, I love my very minty copy and am satisfied with that. Still that is a lot of money

There's always that group of fans who want something different from the usual and will pay for it. Since the majority of them were signed and the ones not signed probably weren't meant to be released, I can see why some might bid it up. I know the winner intends to get the book slabbed and is excited about getting the first CGC copy of this book with a blue universal label, since all the signed ones get the green qualified label.

Are these books now confirmed as existing?

http://cgi.ebay.com/WARRIORS-of-PLASM-0 ... dZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/SPLATTERBALL-Dave-L ... dZViewItem

Seeing as they went for so much and probably to board members i thought we could get some confirmation that these are new additions.

cheers

Ian

Im pretty sure the warriors of plasm exists. I have seen one for sale before, by a board member im pretty sure.

The splatterball. No clue. He claims that this one was not stamped when the rest of them were and that they were never distributed. If this is true, you wil probly never see another one.

Yeah somebody had the Plasm #0 batch up a while ago which was ended before we could all get a look in but we know it exists so it needs to be added.

The Splatterball obviously exists too and according to the chick who sold it there is possibly 50, which if true means they will surface at some point.
However i guess we need to see another one before we really know for sure there are more.

I have the Plasm 0 stand alone and know about 4 or 5 others who also have one. I don't have the Splatterball with no seal but I do know one other collector who I trust who claims to own one.

I am not so sure about adding these... these were just taken by employees during the manufacturing process. I.e probably the Splatterball was taken out before the seals were set in place. I do not see the need to add something to the list that is an unfinished product and not formally introduced by the proprietary owners as part of a special production run or formal 'rare item'. These are just books swiped by employees during the manufacturing process.

The prices that these books fetched are uncommonly high and I am disappointed that these sold for so much. Now I could understand a simple run of 50 books to be given out to key players within the company or something of the like but a book that was taken from the assembly line and then HYPED to be something that it is not ? These are NOT special books and I will be hard pressed to put them into the official list. Unless someone can convince me, they will not be going on the list.

I would warn against hasty additions to a list because somebody is 'hyping a book'. These books went up for sale in a LARGE lot a few months ago (I know because I bid up to $300 on it and lost) (not talking about the no seal Splatterball book) so the 'rarity' is a bunch of bull$hit from the same seller who obviously had more than the first (if I remember correctly) 300 that went up on the auction block.

Now because of this auction, the book is so high in 'value', it will make it a 'holy grail' item when there is no need for this book to be so. Holy Grail book for Defiant is the one staple Plasm 0 and the Birth of the Defiant Universe.

It is simply a copy of the Previews book that did not get added to the issue it was supposed to go in... please convince me how this is a special book. Otherwise, it is not going to be added.

I have owned the Plasm 0 with a single staple for a couple of years or so. I think I got it from Milehigh for a couple of dollars or so but can't remember for sure.

Completely agree. They are just leftovers really that should of never seen the light of day. I would maybe add them into a subsection of misc defiant items, like I have in the crossgen list. Its not stuff that everyone "needs" to be 100% complete. But it would be cool for someone collecting Defiant and browsing our list to see that is does exist.

Half of the fun of collecting DU's for me is collecting the non offical comic book items, such as pins, promo items, etc. Unfortunately, I guess I will never be getting those because they simply arent worth the money.
