I don't recall the tech but I guess she was engeenerred to look human with a bit of possibility to change a bit back since being human is repulsive....(and grow limbs and figers and boobs...)

I love the panel in "The Rise of Lydia" where it loks like they're cutting off one of "her" limbs with a Reciprocating Saw. :thumb:

Tasty... at least to the Spider Alien that ate her. :P

She looked like she did in X-O Manowar

The process is surgical, not magical.

The initial process to turn a Spider Alien into a "human-looking thing"
probably involves some infusion of salt water, since humans are basically
made of salt water... and since Spider Aliens don't seem very watery.

After the process, you've got a creature that is known for having multiple limbs
which has undergone a salt-watery process.

What does that remind you of? If you said "starfish", you're right. :thumb:

The starfish... as salt-watery as it gets...
a creature which can regrow lost limbs...
Spider Alien + Human Conversion = Starfish Power?

Sure, why not. :D

For Shadowman (and this is the theory), Master Darque gave Lydia a potion that made her appear human, an illusion she used to seduce Jack, then after she did that she took a counter potion (as seen above) that removed the glamour Darque put on her, which revealed her true self, the arachnid with the human head, hands, and legs from X-O and Solar.
How is a "potion" surgical and not magical? :?

They're gooey on the inside and chewie on the outside.

Er, yeah... I-I would have definitely said starfish.... um....
Sure, why not. :D
Hey, at least you're using hard science to find an explanation. That's better than my "Master Darque casted a glamour" crap, lol :thumb:

"Potions" are only magical in the sense that mushrooms and cannabis are "magical".

Interesting discussions and theories.

Five fingers in Lydia's first appearance post surgery is intended. You're on the right track with Shadowman #1 as to why. Look more carefully into the books.

X-O Commando armor is more powerful than Wolf but remember the person inside makes all the difference. The warrior in the Wolf armor that begins the Rise of Lydia was being cocky and referring to Lydia and her abilities in a commando as no match for his Wolf.

So Lydia and Jack (and Harold Polk and...) only THOUGHT she was changing form? Shape-shifting potions sound pretty magic(k)al to me!

From a scientific standpoint, potions could make the victim
"highly susceptible to manipulation" through some forms of hallucinogens and pheromones...
but ultimately at some point, you have to determine how much of
"Darque power" and "levitation" and "mind control" is allowable
as "science" versus what is "magic".

We're still talking about a universe where a fat girl can fly. :P

#8 is the one you want, that's the one that gets all the girls to like you.

#9 is the one that overshadows 8 and makes one single woman fall in love with you. :thumb:

Stop assuming. I never said anything about magic, or it being magical. Perhaps the spider aliens have some sort of biological ability to metamorphosize to a small degree that is included in the transformation process.

Many animals can alter their shapes and colors biologically, so it potentially could be done. I doesn't really explain the finger difference, but it could explain the variations on the outward appearence.

Chris

Spiders aren't animals, they're insects.
