My first pre-hero books.

I am pretty stoked. I am interested in these (of course), but I don't want to pay big $$$ for them. I think I did pretty good.

Fantastic find! I'll venture to guess that if the seller had put the word "Valiant"Elveen wrote:My first pre-hero books.

anywhere in the description the price would have been higher.
If he had put the word "Valiant" in the title, it would have been MUCH higher.
(I would have bid at least $30 for the set, and I'm notoriously cheap!)

Great job!

But i'm trying to go cheep in completing my pre-hero collection, so it's going to take a while.greg wrote:I have these WWF four... but not the Nintendo ones.Elveen wrote:Thanks. Well, here's one I thought might be a great deal, not so sure once I got the books:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0227374825
As you can see in the picture, there's a Unity Red. I hit the BIN, taking a chance on the condition of the book. The books were unbagged, so I made sure I talked to the seller about getting them here without damaging them. I must say, he did a great job of packing, if someone was going to ship a bunch of comics unbagged, this was the way to do it. However, when I looked at the Unity Red, it had some spine stresses. I figured, ah, not bad, probably about a VF or possibly VF+. However, after looking a little more closely, I see the book has a store stamp (very faint) on the cover. Major bummer...

That's a shame about the condition, but good eye on catching the red in the middle of all those commons.Brother J wrote:Well, here's one I thought might be a great deal, not so sure once I got the books:

How much does that effect the grade?

good question, the old time date stamps don't seem to lower grade much (if at all), but this is a stamp that has the store name on it, so I would imagine it drops it down a grade at least.Elveen wrote:Brother J wrote:Well, here's one I thought might be a great deal, not so sure once I got the books:

Not to worry dude, you know you will probably get $25 for it still in a year when things get out of hand again.Brother J wrote:Well, here's one I thought might be a great deal, not so sure once I got the books:

I wouldn't downgrade it a grade. It's not wear, after all. It just affects the eye appeal. If it's faint, and it took you a while to notice it, then probably no one will mind if you sell it and mention it.Brother J wrote:good question, the old time date stamps don't seem to lower grade much (if at all), but this is a stamp that has the store name on it, so I would imagine it drops it down a grade at least.Elveen wrote:Brother J wrote:Well, here's one I thought might be a great deal, not so sure once I got the books:

For 115 books, even with the bum Unity Red, that's not so bad!
