Yep, that was the inside lowdown I heard this afternoon
I don't know if it's a first, haven't gotten into a habit to CGC census search for valiants as of yet
but it has to be in demand, right?
It WILL be sold, so any interested let me know, i'll post a scan if i can as soon as possible
After this mornings litigation victory, this was a bonus victory of sorts, ...its a wicked day man

You don't own the rights to the intellectual properties held within the book nor the plastic it comes in so therefore you are unable to sell the book without legal hassels and massive lawsuits. Therefore, as a friend, I am willing to take your book and NOT view it until both us agree that you can make better arrangements to have it moved else where in your house and...er..whatever...GIMME!

This would be the first of any pre-Unity books to receive a grade above 9.8.
It's about time, too... there have been over 2,000 submissions of pre-Unity books
(even more than that if you think about uncounted pre-screen rejects).
Even CGC submissions of books from the 1980s seems to have a
1-in-every-200 rate of getting 9.9 or 10.0.
How the pre-Unity books survived 2,000+ submissions
without a 9.9 or 10.0 is beyond me...
Still, I wouldn't have predicted a 9.9 for Solar #10.
If I had to guess I would have said Magnus #1 would have been first.
Or Rai #1, or X-O #1... just about any other book but Solar #10.
... and I assume we're talking about a first printing?

In case any are curious, I submitted this book myself about two months back along with 50 other books.
I bought this copy 3 years ago during my "Valiant Hunt" (which ironically, was right before valiants got hot again for the most part) from a dealer in NYC that had them in the basement
He told me they were issues he never displayed, nor did they ever enter circulation. When I pulled this book out, I knew it was a stellar looking copy, but never even thought it would grade this high. Given the black cover, I thought a 9.6 for sure, but this
..oh, and I paid $4.00 for it ..
I had honestly forgotten about this copy and few other HG Valiants i'd purchased, they're just not my priority when I submit
sorry...but alas, good things come to those that wait...right

Don't know as of yet Zeph...haven't gotten it back from FLA
However, my memory tends to serve me well, and I believe its spine was excellent for a black cover.
Also, i'll have an EXCELLENT example to measure its "perfection" against, given I own an ASM#36 Vol II CGC 10.0
...which has a seriously FLAWLESS spine and corner combo
It must, i have yet to see a "dark" cover of anykind receive a CGC 9.9 or 10.0 without a perfect spine and corner combo

Guys, guys....can I at least get the book back first
Geeze, and I most likely will be selling it to Greg, I feel he deserves it most. I don't need the cash (thankfully) so highest bidder, or highest price paid doesn't need to interest me
A true Valiant "aficianado" should own it I feel
...not that anyone else isn't one, mind you all
