Copies of the VALIANT CONTINUITY BIBLE available for sale

Post by Vault-Keeper »

I have decided to make copies again of the VCB at my cost for any members old or new who want one.

The website membership list has doubled+ since I first offered this last May, so I'd like to make it available again, mainly for the new members who weren't here last May. If you were here last May, but didn't get one, I'd be happy to make one for you now, also.

For those who don't know, the VCB is the Valiant Continuity Bible. It was written by the late Seaborn Adamson, who was the Official Valiant Archivist. It is over 250+ pages (all text), & gives summary information on all Valiant comics & characters up to mid-1993. It was never updated because Seaborn died in a car accident, & according to Kevin VanHook--"no one else was able to continue it at the time".

This Bible was used as an in-house reference guide for writers & artists. I purchased my copy directly from Valiant's old Editor-In-Chief---Bob Layton. I have premission to copy from Bob, so there is no hassle over me making copies at my cost.

There is no limit on the number of copies made or a cut-off date, like last time. They will all be marked "2nd Print 2005 copy", & they won't have the Unity #0 picture at the front, like my 25 copies I made last year. Unlike the unbound copies I made last year, these copies will be spiral bound, like the original, including a clear front cover, & a sturdy back cover.

Copies will cost the same as last year: $30 each. This includes Insured Priority shipping.
Copies will be made & sent depending on the volume of the orders I receive. All in all, they should begin being shipped within 2 weeks from this post.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you add $3, I'll include "The Book of The Geomancers". This is a ten page chronology/timeline of the Geomancers, that was also used for writers & artists reference. It will be seperate from the bound bible, & includes several drawings of various Geomancers, some never before published in Valiant's comics. I got my copy directly from Kevin VanHook, & there is no problems with making copies of it at my cost.

To order your copy, write to me at:
Vault-Keeper@webtv.net

Please do not PM me. Thanks!---Steve

Hi Dino! I would request that no one make any copies from my copy, but as Zeph pointed out last year, once the bibles are out of my hands, there's little to nothing that I can do to stop it from being reproduced. I certainly don't want to see any on ebay. I'd like to keep it among the board members.---Steve

I'm considering it, but would like the opinions of those who already have it on wether it is worth it. $30 is a lot to spend for photocopies of text. From buying lecture notes, I realize that 30 is probably the correct cost, so I guess I'd like to know about the content. Thanks

I am one of the people who got a copy from Steve last year. The VCB is full of interesting facts! I would HIGHLY recommend it to Valiant fans. The copy I got was a quality print job, and Steve shipped it very quickly. I think it is an outstanding book for the price. This book was almost impossible for the majority of collectors to have access to until Vault-keeper decided to help other collectors get copies. That was a class act Steve and I just wanted to thank you again!

I bound mine with nice heavy cardstock covers, and added the book of the geomancer from Kevins VCB. I am continually adding stuff to mine, who knows, maybe VCB #2 completing the VH! universe will be available and given out free before the end of the year! HINT, HINT

Thanks for all the posts, guys! I'm glad you guys all enjoy your copies. I wish we would discuss some of the stuff printed in it on the board more often. There's tons of interesting facts just in the Glossary alone!

And the VCB #2 project sounds great, Arch! Count me in if you need any help! It might be a large task. Easily another 250+ pages worth of material.---Steve

the vcb is well, well worth the money.

once you see how much effort steve puts into it you'll really appreciate the opportunity to own one.

i read mine from cover to cover, had it spiral bound with a heavy black plastic backing and a clear plastic cover.

and lets not forget the hard work of seaborn, his site is still archived...check it out.

Hey Vault-Keeper,
I must say hearing about this Valiant Bible and the way everyone is praising your craftsmanship in reproduction it makes me want one. However, I have been a buying fool lately and it has caught up with my wallet. So too finally, get to the point How long, will you offer the “Valiant Continuity Bible” and “Book of the Geomancers”?
Thanks :D

Right now my offer is open-ended. No cut-off date. But please let me know if you're ordering outside of the USA, because shipping will cost a bit more.

Right now, I have got a bit behind in responding to a few interested parties who have wrote since this past weekend. I'm catching up right now.

I'm running behind because my father had to be hospitalized over the weekend due to a neurological problem that hasn't been diagnosed yet. I've had my plate full with hospital visits & taking care of my mother. Both my parents are in their 70's. Old age sucks. There is NOTHING worse than watching your parents slowly slip away a little each day. Nothing worse except maybe losing a child.

Everyone who wrote over the weekend will be getting an email from me this evening. Thanks for bearing with me.---Steve

Thanks for all the good words & thoughts in regards to my Father. He spent a week in the hospital in the Geropsychiatry Ward, & has seen a VA Doctor today (he was a Marine during the Korean Conflict/War). He seems to have had a nervous breakdown brought on by stress & depression, but he is doing better, & is back home with my Mother. We just need to keep an eye on him. When you watch Grandpa do something senile on the Simpsons, it's funny. It's definitely not funny in real life. Getting old sucks. :(

I also wanted to say that I'm going to the printer tomorrow. I have orders for several copies of the VCB, but if you still want one, or The Book Of The Geomancers, write to me by tomorrow, & I'll have your copy printed tomorrow also. Thanks!:)---Steve
