Looking for selling advice
Hey folks. So, I just joined the board - you can read my VALIANT story here.
At any rate, I'm digging through my collection, and have basically decided that I'd like to sell it. It was fun to read VALIANT at the time, but unfortunately (well, fortunately for you guys), I'm just not that into them any more. Hope I didn't offend anyone...
So, here's a partial list of what I have (still taking inventory):
Special Issues:
Shadowman #0 Chromium Flat
Geomancer #1 Chromium Flat
Archer and Armstrong #0 Gold
Deathmate Yellow Gold
Harbinger #0 Pink
Magnus #0 w/Card
Magnus #25 VVSS
Ninjak #1 Gold
Second Life of Doctor Mirage #1 Gold
Secret Weapons #11 VVSS
Shadowman #0 Gold
X-O Manowar #1/2 Gold w/ COA
Normal Issues:
Armorines #3, 4, 5
Bloodhost #15
Chaos Effect Alpha, Omega, Epilogue
Deathmate Prologue, Blue, Black, Red, Epilogue
Geomancer #1, 2, 4
H.A.R.D. Corps #6, 10
Magnus / Nexus #2
Ninjak #0, 00, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 12
Predator vs. Magnus #1
Psi-Lords #1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Second Life of Dr. Mirage #1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13
Secret Weapons #1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17
Secrets of the Valiant Universe #1, 2
Timewalker #1
Turok #1, 2, 10, 16
Unity #0, TPB 1-4
Valiant Voice #1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 15, 17
I know I'm missing Rai, Magnus, Solar, XO, Shadowman, Harbinger, etc - I just haven't inventoried those, but the list are similar - I have Magnus 1, 2, 3, 4, Rai 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, etc.
So, my questions for you all:
- Is it worth it to get some of these CGC graded? (Presuming they're in NM condition at least, which they are.) If so, which ones?
- Should I just list them on eBay and then post the listings here? Sell them directly here?
- Should I sell them in lots? One at a time?
- Recommended packaging / shipping techniques?
Thanks in advance. More to follow when I complete my inventory.

I got a Geo chromium flat a longggg time ago (when I came out to CA with Greg Buls in 1999, as a matter of fact!)....and, sadly, I didn't take care of it.Zero wrote:Unused, unfolded chromium covers.Dr. Solar wrote:What are these?dbb817 wrote:Shadowman #0 Chromium Flat

It got a bit creased up.

It's still cool, though.

Flats, CGC, Grading
I honestly have no idea. What's fair market value? That's all I really want...Zero wrote:Let me know what you want for the flats.
Does anyone have an opinion on CGC grading? It would seem that I can get 20X the value for my Harbinger #0 Pink if I get it graded.
As for accurate grading, part of the reason it's taking so long is that I'm going through each book and doing my best to grade it accurately...

Re: Flats, CGC, Grading
The flats don't come up on ebay much, so it's hard to say what they would go for. I would guess somewhere around 20 bucks a piece.dbb817 wrote:I honestly have no idea. What's fair market value? That's all I really want...Zero wrote:Let me know what you want for the flats.

We had a Psi-Lords flat project a while back. There were 8 projects put together. The flats were framed and signed by Mike Leeke and someone else who I can't remember. They also came with a gold Psi-Lords 1 similarly autographed with a CoA.
Two projects were offered. One sold for $150, the other was auction for $85. That is as close as I can tell you for the values of these flats but I am certain that if you put them up for auction on eBay and advertised it well (pretty much just posting links on this board to the auctions, maybe bumping that thread the day before and/or the day the auction ends) they will sell for more than $20 per each before shipping just because they come up so rarely and there's a large enough market of us looking to bid on them.

Who is Greg Buls? Seems Like I should know that name. Somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind it seems familiar.
BTW did you ever start selling your CGC's on the bay? Point me?

Greg Buls is a dealer/distributor who lives in AZ. He was a very early supporter of Valiant, and is mentioned in Solar #10 in the story.BettyBoop2 wrote:Hey Z,ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:(when I came out to CA with Greg Buls in 1999, as a matter of fact!)....and, sadly, I didn't take care of it.![]()

I worked for him in 1999. Interesting experience all around.

By the time you subtract for fees, I believe you might get as much or more seling your books here as you would on EBay. We are most of the people on EBay buying the Valiant books listed there. If you think you have books that would grade 9.8, you would probably get more for them slabbed CGC than raw, but otherwise I think it depends on the book.
