a complete set of pre-Unity?

I might be getting a set for $200, or less.

Now, it is described as "almost complete" - it was from a store owner who is liquidating his inventory. I do NOT have a detailed list of what is there, or missing. I have bought a huge lot (800+) books from him of post unity stuff (actually had a couple of pre-Unity comics in there, Solar 11, XO 4, etc.). Based on my communication, I would say there are at least 80 - 90% of the issues there - I just don't know which ones.

So what do you think - should I go through with it? How much would you pay for it?

Chris

It would depend upon condition. I would probably assume that Harbinger 0 pink and/or Archer & Armstrong 0 gold, are not included. Make sure the Solar 10 is a first edition. If it is and if the only stuff missing is a gold OR a pink-not both-200 is a good price. Anything less, if in magnificent shape, is awesome, especially if that Rai 3 is centered. Good luck :thumb:

I would like to see the set first but with renewed interest in Valiant growing, sounds like it could be a great opportunity. I have my one complete set but I wish I could put together one more or at least a few extra title runs.

I echo the recommendations posted above: see if you can look at the collection, watch the conditions especially on the key books, note the centering on Rai #3, look at prices here and on eBay, and then go with your gut.

FYI, according to the inventory profile, my base set of Unity and Pre-Unity books (everything minus incentives*) has a replacement value around $450 and wholesale value around $130.

Sounds like the dealer may just want to move the collection while he still can so asking for a better price may not hurt if you need to. At this point you still may be the only collector the seller has talked to who may be interested and he may not want to loose the sale.

*I’ve submitted an updated list for my profile that includes every incentive book making my Unity and Pre-Unity set 100% complete but there has been no change. Should I resubmit or just sit tight?

If the keys are there, sounds good. (Harby #1-#6 w/ coup), Solar #1 & #10, Mag. #0, #1, #12, XO #1.

Good luck.

With the prices going up, might be the time to take the chance.

The price he offered is $150. I think I will do it. I have multiples of some Pre-unity stuff, but not of some of the ones that I really like.

BTW, I updated my list as well. I am just holding tight. :)

I was thinking $150 if he has the key issues

As long as it's not missing many issues, $150 sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

$150 for a sizable collection of pre-Unity and Unity Valiants—sounds really good. Unless the collection is missing too many key issues and/or the books are not in great shape I probably would not pass on them too quickly.

If you do go through with the sale please let us know how you did.

Okay, sounds like the update just takes a little time then—thanks. In retrospect, I do not remember my original submission being posted all that quickly either.

Let us know when you get them. I hope the Solar 10, Harby 1, Mag 12, and 0, and Rai 3 are in good condition.

According to the updates page:

Collector Inventory Totals- Valiant books - Acclaim books - last updated 1/26/2008

Also, is anyone else having problems with their inventory pie charts?

**I know a lot of work goes into maintaining this site. By no means am I trying to be overly critical. Thanks in advance!**

That's why I never use any of the avatars that are integrated into the board software.

There's still one or two avatars you can get away with using that nobody else seems to want.

I’d be more than glad to have a more unique avatar but is there a free site that’s reliable where I can post and house images?

FYI, I changed my avatar image to the X-O hand from issue #10—probably the most symbolic image expressing how we all probably feel about the renewed Valiant universe.
