I highly doubt cgcruler AND comictoysandstuff AND calvinmillerinc are all in on some sort of PRE-PLANNED scam....but, apparently they all live here, in SoCal.Smashey wrote:booyah, heres where the new negatives came from.

Reading the feedback though, the buyer never sent payment for any of this..........and he left negatives for them all.
I will have to say. This is REALLY starting to seem fishy. This seller has 42 negatives from this month. 22 of them are from people who DID NOT PAY for the books. The other 20 are from a guy who stopped payment of $300. I find it really odd that there are 42 negatives, and every single one of them has a payment problem.
My guess? They all know each other. CTAS got his order first, and freaked out, and told his friends, who then decided to not send payment.
It just doesn't make sense....if someone was going to target someone for a malicious attack (and there's certainly no evidence of that), then they certainly wouldn't go through the trouble of actually sending money just to neg-bomb the seller.
Y'all should consider yourselves lucky...back in the bad old days, eBay allowed any user to leave any other user feedback for any reason, or no reason at all. They weren't transaction dependent.
So, yeah, people would get neg bombed all the time.
When I was brand new, maybe a month into eBay (November/December 1998), there were some books that I bid on...reserve not met.....BIG mistake...the seller, dapear, aka "dapear", would then e-mail bomb ALL the bidders with e-mails AS LONG AS SOME OF MY LONGEST POSTS, saying things like "this book is worth 5-10X what my start bid is, and you all are idiots (in so many words) for not bidding on them." He sent these out to EVERY SINGLE BIDDER on EVERY SINGLE AUCTION they bid on.
I kid you not.
So, I finally told him to knock it off, that his books were WILDLY overpriced, and people aren't interested in his spam. Sounds like a pretty normal reaction from me, right?
So, he left me a neg. Three weeks after I joined eBay.
In GOOD FAITH, I did NOT retaliate and leave him a neg in return, because I, naively, believed that I could talk to eBay about having it removed, because it was not legitimate feedback.

If you think eBay is hard to contact NOW...imagine the monolithic stone wall that eBay was THEN. NO live support, NO phone, only e-mail, to which eBay famously sent out canned responses.
So....
The good thing, though, was I was never involved in the bombing wars that were happening when I first joined...it was bad. If you looked at someone cross-eyed, you'd get 20 negs on your account. If you didn't bid high enough, you'd get negs. It was crazy.
eBay tried all SORTS of ways to fix the problem before (duh) doing what everyone was telling them to do and make feedback all transaction related. They tried to limit negs to 1 per day (which was stupid for people with legitimate negs, who needed to leave 5-10 or whatever)...they tried to allow you to leave fb FOR YOURSELF to "respond" to negatives...it was a joke.
Im seriously going to hold my judgement on this seller until I receive my books and see for myself. Everyone else seems to be happy except for the non paying bidders......

Calvinmiller's FB is very good, actually. People...especially scammers....have no problem lying. You can't take individual negs and ignore a couple thousand positives.Smashey wrote: On top of the non paying negatives from buffalo, here is some more negs that this new negative feedback leaver has on him....NO Communication B4 you NEG Feedback, seller has different username now ?!?!?!?!SCARY BUYER! It looks, though, as if Mr. Calvinmillerinc is an overgrader himself.
Why do people freak out about people changing their USER name.....? The ACCOUNT, and ALLLL feedback, stays the same. Nothing else changes. But people scream that in FB as if it's "proof" that the seller/buyer is "trying to scam."
It's ridiculous.
It's nice to see that krpkid got some comeuppance, though.

It's FUNNY how the *SQUEE* who screw with me end up in problem situations with others....it's almost like...they really ARE scammers!
Imagine that.

Yeah, that policy was changed around then, too...you couldn't run dutch auctions unless you had a FB rating of 10 or more.Chiclo wrote:My mother was quite the eBay chatroom addict in the timeframe you mentioned, Z. I remember we moved at some point during her chatting there, which would be July '99.
I remember her mentioning that people would come into the chatroom requesting feedback so they could run dutch auctions.

Seller called me on my cell today. I had ordered 2 books, one of them being defenders #3. She told me she dropped it while packing, and doubted i would want it anymore. She told me she had a box in front of her and to make up for it i could pick 2 books out. She was reading them off to me, describing flaws etc. She had a werewolf by night #1. She said it looked great. She took it out of the bag and told me it had some yellowing along the edges on the back cover. Like my first conversation, she had no clue on what anything was. But she seemed very honest and upfront about every book she read off to me.
She found an amazing spiderman #60. She said it had 2 dings, but the book looked great. I ran out of time, was driving on the way to pick up my kid and told her to just pick out any other book that looked like it was in great shape, a well known name, and old.
I paid 15 bucks for the defenders #3. And im getting a spidey #60 and something else for the mixup. I cant wait to get these books and see how they turn out.
She told me about the whole negative thing. I wont go into detail, we have discussed it before. But i will have to say that without a doubt, she honestly feels scammed. (whether she was in the right or wrong).
Will have to see when I get my books. I will say that this lady is probly around 60 years old. She is very nice and polite, and from my experience in dealing with her so far, she is very willing to make things good. She does not accept returns, but I do know from talking to her if i have any issue at all, all i gotta do is give her a call and she will make me happy.

got em. Definately overgraded. I would say seller was correct, vg/f tops. Although im no grader. No where near nm.
One of the extra books she included was a spiderman #1 though....it came in a hard top loader. The back of the loader says plat. I dunno what a plat looks like though, and i dont have my camera till later. It is polybagged, and appears platinum in color though........it looks absolutely flawless, i cant see even a tiny blemish on it. soft paper cover. Is this a plat?

Goes to show. If you arent a total *SQUEE* about things, maybe people will be more willing to make you happy.
Dear buffalo-walker,
Got the books today. I will have to say, the 2 old ones are no where close to nm/m. Both the spiderman 60, and the xmen 60 both have lots of creasing and wear. The spiderman 60 has a piece of the cover missing on the back and water stains on the front and back. I would of been happy if the xmen was 9.95....but i paid $65 for it. You were going to pick me out an old book that was in great shape, and you sent a 1990's spiderman #1. The sticker on the back of the holder says its a platinum (which is good), but its not. Its a .99 silver version. All in all, I can see why the people left the negative feedbacks. To pay top dollar for these books, and in the condition received, is a big loss of money. Im not going to leave a negative. You seem like a very nice lady and I know it wsnt intentional. My advice is that you do not list any type of grading, and let the pictures and customers decide for themselves, or you will continue to get negs.
Thank you for being SO understanding! Just send them all back and I will give you a full refund. If you need to talk to me, just give me a call!

Before they announced the new Harbinger HC I was scaring them up on eBay in auctions listed outside the Valiant area for $1.99 about three or four times a month.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Absolutely. Gold was $50 and Plat was $75 at one point.superman-prime wrote:Price is insane did they ever get that high Z??
Gold more than the platinum. One time I won a gold for $1.99 and recieved a platinum. That was odd.

Orrrrrrr.......
Maybe she's taken such a (well deserved) pounding, that she's been softened up. Maybe before all of this, it wouldn't have mattered how nice you were.....
Just sayin'..........
