The new Cap is Bucky!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know, that's been obvious forever now but it was just nice to see that finally confirmed at the end of 33. It's going to be awesome to see him put on the flag next issue and go after the Red Skull. :D
I'm sorry, but I'm just not one of the fans who like this. I didn't like it when they brought Bucky back from the dead, I didn't like it when they killed Cap (he's one of my favorite characters), and I certainly don't like seeing someone else in Cap's uniform. Been there, done that.
Have you read the new Cap series ?

I didn't like the idea at first either . . .but after reading . . it's done pretty well . . .

Are you serious? Cap is one of my favorite characters. He's actually tied with Thor as my favorite characters in comics.

I've collected Cap over the last 25 years and haven't missed an issue until this garbage started.

I hated it when Bru brought back Bucky, and I still gave it a chance. But I eventually realized that this was not the same Cap that I grew up reading and when they killed Cap off, that was the final straw.

That's cool. No story is ever going to work for everyone who reads it. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

I am disappinted that they killed off Cap... while it was done very well, I still feel that there is 'something going on' and Steve will be back sooner or later.

I am insulted that Marvel had to mess with such an iconic character such as Captain America. The stories since 9/11 have been inspiring and have not had that 'I am a man from the 1940s trying to cope with this new world' but just hardcore Cap kicking butt and taking names. I have liked Cap since I was a small child and seeing this done to him, I think hurt my feelings.

Got 34.

Awesome.

Minor Spoilers

Great to see Bucky slowly get used to the role (the dailog with Black Widow where he tells her he hopes he doesn't have to talk the rioters down and Natasha tells him she hopes he's been practicing with the shield was priceless). You can see how he grows and adapts to being Cap and that it's something he's not going to be able to do overnight (or in one issue). Love how Brubaker takes his time to let characters develop naturally.

And it was great to finally, after over a year of waiting, see a small part (the beginning) of Red Skull's master plan in action. Killer ending. This book is always at the top of my pile.

We've all seen big changes in continuity before, characters dying and being brought back to life on a (marketting) whim, retcons that devalue continuity based on editorial decisions.

And I imagine we're all pretty bored with them.

I think Bru's Cap, from his the return of Bucky in the Winter Soldier arc, through the death of Cap and the build-up to the old sidekick picking up the shield and continuing the legacy has been such a solid conceived and delivered story that it's transcended the 'gimmick'.

This one was worth telling, and if Steve Roger's return (which we all must be convinced will happen) is handled with the same gravity and care, it may mark the end of one of the best Cap era's there's ever been.

There's a lesson here too, Joe Q's recent decision to wish away Peter Parker's life may be grounded in sound editorial reasoning (playing devil's advocate here, bear with me), but the fact that there was no good story in it, as much as any other reason, should have prevented it from ever happening.

Looking back through Cap 34 I spotted the LOST reference on one of the TV screens at SHIELD. I'm surprised no one caught that.
