Soooo...david was wrong, and I used it correctly the whole time....Dr. Solar wrote:Hyphens are for compound words made up of two adjectives, from what I recall. "Poorly worded" is an adverb/adjective combination, and I don't remember if the hard-fast rule hyphen rule applies to that combination as well.
I'll have to check with my copy of Elements Of Style.
I thought as much....

I'd be embarrassed if Zephyr beat me....I mean, she's just a girl...and an overweight, out of shape one at that....BloodOfHeroes wrote:Lemme guess--Zephyr beat you anyway? You know, just because?david_albuq wrote:You don't want to know what happened if I started a sentence such as: "Can me and Joe go to the park after supper?"

When a compound modifier — two or more words that express a single concept — precedes a noun, use hyphens to link all the words in the compound except the adverb very and all adverbs that end in -ly.

Pffff, what does AP Style know?
I'm "old school" grammar, baby!
I -hated- AP Style when I was in school and sooooo many universities are going AP. Moreover, if someone is even thinking about going into journalism, one best embrace the AP Style future.
There are other styles out there, but for some reason AP is winning in academia. Kinda like VHS vs Beta. Beta was better, but VHS won.
Go figure.
Thanks for the update there, Depluto.
