I love a good Dead Universe!

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

Hey, there are others like me!

Don't know why I'm sharing, but I feel like it.

Of course I love Valiant or else I wouldn't be here.

Defiant could have been just as good and it may have been. Plasm #0 was just a great comic and introduced an even better concept. From these boards, I've learned of a few issues that I didn't originally get, namely the Birth of the Defiant Universe and the Splatterball issue.

I've just gotten back into these things after a long hiatus from reading comics. I'm going to start reading New Universe (I have vague childhood memories of my brother's dp7). I know it won't be literature, but I'm looking forward to it.

One question: I can't find the comic, so I don't remember the title. Does anyone remember a comic where the "superpowers" were given out through a lottery? I think either the company or the comic was called "Legacy" but my memory is hazy.

ok, a quick search revealed that the comic I'm talking about is Legacy by Majestic comics. Now there's a universe that wouldn't take long to collect!

Just don't get your hand stuck in a can... sometimes you have to let those hard-to-reach chips go, man.

My personal opinion is it was ahead of its' time. Shooter's funding was pulled right before the launch, and that created problems, but there were awesome comics produced, too. DP 7 had the same writer and artist for the entire run, and as a result was the most consistent of the titles. Of course, Shooter wrote Star Brand 1-6, my favorite issues of The New U. I thought Nightmask was awesome. Justice was outstanding at times. And, of course, I consider it to be the father of Valiant Comics. :)

Welcome to this little section of the board. If you're looking for suggestions, I'd recommend "CrossGen" as a DU to collect :thumb:

Have to agree with you, New Universe was a great concept and I personally enjoyed "Star Brand" the most.

Raising Dead Universes

Post by StarBrand »

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if Valiant Entertainment is so successful that Marvel raises The New Universe from the dead and is successful with its' own relaunch? Then, seeing those two successes, someone acquires the Defiant characters and brings that universe back? Finally, the Broadway universe is then brought back!?!
Go Valiant Entertainment! 8-)

Spatterball was orginally sold in Plasm #0 card binder the second edition of the binder had a second printing of it.
It was also reprinted in the Warriors of Plasm trade paper back.

The Birth of the Defiant Universe was a rare promotional book given
away at a sales confence there are only 1000 copies were said to be printed. They pop up occasionally on eBay. I should know I just bought a copy for $55. It's an intresting read but it's not essentional to understand the Defiant Universe.
