Careful, Daniel Jackson might think that you're threatening to bite someone and edit your post.betterthanezra wrote:That said who's going to bite?
You must cooperate and keep the language as bland as possible.
After today colorful language, slang, and humor are not accepted in Daniel Jackson's "VALIANTfans.com"

VIP (and VEI for that matter) aren't doing this for the hardcore Valiant fan.
This is all to draw in the speculators. Units shipped. I mean I gotta admit, since the future of these characters is up in the air the prospect of owning the Ashcan is tempting if only because of the limited print run.
It is that temptation VIP is hoping to bank on, to gather momentum.

One would think that Deathmate would be owned by 4 companies:MProyas wrote:that is interesting. Would Image not own part of the trademark for Deathmate. Or this would probably fall into the "they have not produced a Deathmate comic in X number of years, so it is up for grabs" clausebetterthanezra wrote:Here is that Deathmate picture in the Ashcan of Crap....

Valiant, DC (since now they own Wildstorm's characters), Top Cow (IIRC Silvertri had some of his characters in it) and Rob Liefled's company (whatever he calls this day of week).

Yeah, took me all lunch to read most of the Petrilak tangent. I keep thinking these long threads need a table of contents or Cliff's Notes at the very leastGeomancer wrote:Thank you for your post! Yes- divorce is especially hard for an Aspie, mostly because they really never understand why.X-O HoboJoe wrote: Joe, I was unaware you are living with this condition and apologize for the things I've posted towards you. Given this information, everything clicked into place as the explanation behind what happened between you and ZWH in 2000 and why it's very hard for you to "revisit" any part of that time. I applaud the fact that you've managed to get as much done as you have in making things right. The jarring shock of divorce is hard for almost anyone -- I can only imagine what it's like for someone with Asperger's.
To the rest of my forum-brothers; please take this condition into account before taking umbrage at something jmpet posts. The brain of the Asperger's paint (as I am assuming I understand it) is wired differently, so expect and account for it. I'm in no way advocating ignoring jmpet, just be prepared to have a special context for his posts when you read them.
However, I brought Aspies up in the first place because one thing Aspies can do is spot other Aspies, and I'm pretty certain Zephyr is one. Stephen Colbert is definetly an Aspie, so is Bill Gates and Albert Einstein (and the list goes on). Being an Aspie and not knowing it makes it doubly difficult and I think this is part of Zephyr's superego.
Mind blindness is a big thing for Aspies- it's when there's so much going on in your head you become unable to give a proper response. But mostly it's not understanding subtleties- like all the CC stuff.
One in 200 people is an Aspie- that means there are tens of millions of Aspies all over the world. Asperger's is also called the "nerd syndrome" because Aspies like to collect stuff and comics are a big one. I'm willing to bet there's a few Aspies in this forum.
I wouldn't call it a serious disorder- I can walk and drive and swim and think- most Aspies have above normal intelligence... we're just nerds.Brother J wrote:X-O HoboJoe wrote:jmpet wrote: That being said, this doesn't sound like something "the vast majority of collectors" have, it sounds more like a serious disorder to me.

That is key.jmpet wrote:I think it comes down to whoever put out the best Valiant comics.X-O HoboJoe wrote: That's what scares me. Does it come down to an informed judgement call or a coin flip?
The thing is, the only thing that might be "Valiant" about a VIP comic is the name. They can't use the actual characters, powers, history, likeness, or anything like that.
VEI can use them, however, even if they can't use the name "Eternal Warrior" or "Bloodshot".
So as Greg says, what is Valiant - the names without the plot/characters/history, or the plot/characters/history without the names?

I have had a few students with asperger's syndrome (and my wife also had a few), I would not call them all nerds. The disease manifested itelf in different ways in each kid (even in the twins, both of them had AS). They were hard working and polite students, just a bit challenged in different areas, often it was picking up on physical social cues.
I know you know AS better than I, but not all are nerds, and I felt I had to stick up for the kids that I had. In fact, one of the twins was down right cool in 8th grade, and that is saying something.
