VALIANT
Excitement brews among fans over the new reprints of the long-defunct Valiant comics. "Ever since Previews cam out announcing the return of Valiant, we have sold over 200 back issues of various Valiant books," says Chris Canibano of Calliope's Realm in Napersville, Ill. "The major movers so far have been the original Harbinger trade paperback that had issue #0 for $20 and the Valiant Universe trade that we also sold for $20."

I've noticed it mainly on the auctions that get bid up by that usual group of bidders that are paying way too much for certain books right now. Most of the other stuff seems to be in line though.leonmallett wrote:That said, prices seem to be a little higher on ebay than they did when I started collecting about 18 months ago. That may just be my perception having picked up many of the more common books first.

"Selling over 200 back issues of various Valiant books" (just since the August Previews came out) may be the key part of the quote here, though the price on the Harby trade I think is also interesting. Some retailers are already testing the ceiling on the current Valiant market.BrettC wrote:Wizard, Issue 191, page 124

The fact Wizard printed this means Wizard already has their eyes open watching Valiant prices.
I wouldn't be surprised if Valiant prices start moving up in Wizard shortly.
Incidentally, I just sold a Rai 0 for 7.99 plus shipping out of my eBay store.

yeah some Joker had Rai 0 for $20 at a comic sotre, I told him there were like 600k copies or something. Then I drove 2 miles to another store and found it in the 50 cent bin (ALong with Magnus 8-14, Rai #3. and sets of EW, AA, and XO) score.
If Valiant prices do go up, I bet all the people that started collecting in the 90's just because they saw Harbinger #1 (and the rest of Valiant) as a good investment and then sold their collection when Acclaim crapped the company up and the books were pennies, are gonna be kickiing themselves in the *SQUEE*.
I have to admit, I am one of them. I started collecting in the 80's but sold it ALL. I even had WOlverine #1 (Miller), SPiderman 298-324 (1st McFarlane and Venoms), Harbinger #0-25, XO-#0-33, the sad list goes on and on

Back in 98, when I was working at a youth correctional facility I grabbed a ton of post unity commons and took them in for the 'residents' to read. They enjoyed them. I figured that if VALIANT came back that I would have at least some of the early books. Im glad I held on to them. Im kinda bummed that I gave away those later commons.. but hey, convicts need a good read too, and I can only hope that it meant a little something to the guys that read them.
Cant you just feel da love?!!

If the relaunch is anything close to successful, nothing's going to surprise me.cobra_commander wrote:i'd love to see rai 0 make the wizard top ten againcomicmark wrote:"Selling over 200 back issues of various Valiant books" (just since the August Previews came out) may be the key part of the quote here, though the price on the Harby trade I think is also interesting. I would have to agree. I hate Wizard and Shamus. They both have helped to destroy comics. I am just glad that the industry was able to get back to something of what it was. The industry started to believe the hype that Wizard was spinning and everyone got a big head. I got to where I hated comics and stopped collecting. I still barely touch Marvel as I have nightmares of Terror Inc., Sleepwalker, and 2099. Scary times.Chiclo wrote:Wizard didn't do it intentionally.
They've just got the touch.
Ask some of the other guys here about how good Wizard is for the comics industry. You'll get some colourful responses.
