Valiant, girls and rock and roll

So I started collecting comics pretty young....about 9. My cousin had all those great old Spideys, Xmens, and Marvel Comics Presents - from the late 80's y'know when Spidey's black costumed face would adorne the UPC rectangle. This was before all the chromium, glow in the dark covers.

Well my peak in enjoying comics was in 1991 - with Lobo (Somin Bisely) and Valiant. I had all the Jim Shooter Valiant era books - my favorites were Harbinger, XO, Eternal Warrior and Archer and Armstrong (being my favorite).

I stopped in 1994 when I was getting into music, I got a guitar and started playig music...also started having girlfriends and comics took the backseat. Harbinger #25 was the last book I remember reading and everyhting seemed to go downhill from there.

BAD NEWS - I sold my entire comic collection (600 books) in 1996. By then Valiant was worth crap and I made little of what I paid for back then. Just this past 2 weeks I moved and found some old graphic novels I had - Lobo slipcase, X-Men (Dark Phoenix Ashes), WOlverine (Frank Miller), Harbinger (1-4), X-O (1-4), and Shadowman (1-3). I read all of them back to back like a sick maniac discovering he once was the prince of Persia or something. I went ahead and bought the UNITY trade paperback 1-4 with slipcase (and lost chapters) and read all of them too. I miss the stories.

Now I am wondering what happened to my favorite superheroes - Archer And Armstrong, Peter Stanchek (and the rest of the O.G. Harbinger team). I for one - always supported Jim Shooter and hope he picks up Valiant and does it HIS way again.

Welcome. :thumb:

Re: Shooter, he is on board in a limited capacity only it seems, given his recent comments in various places. He isn't leading the revival. But fingers crossed for some good (new) stories.

Luckily, I must have taken the very last copy of Valiant - Harbinger #25. I haven't read it till last night. I already got a glimpse of how Valiant will go down after looking at the preview of Harbinger #26.

You're a true classic Valiant collector for sure, I don't blame with your life decision. Welcome aboard!

Some spoilers for you:

Armstrong went to become a geomancer in later magnus issues. Archer apparently follows what was predicted in Rai 0. Peter well that is story you will need to get the later issues of harbinger to see and the visitor and a few issues of timewalker about the harbinger wars. I wont ruin the Peter surprise--if there is much of a surprise.

Welcome aboard.
