CGC Submissions
A couple of invoices came back (50 slabs out of about 200 submissions)
I had some help pre-screening, but these didn't produce the desired outcome... (I was going for a 9.8 set but I forgot to set the 9.6 pre-screen threshold for these two invoices.)
Valiants that came back in this batch:
Deathmate Yellow Gold CGC 9.8
Deathmate Prologue (CGC 9.6) not a good submission
Deathmate Black Gold (2 copies) both CGC 9.6 (not a good submission)
and a RAI 0 which graded out at 9.0
(My pre-pre-screener seriously missed the ballpark on that one...)
(Plus many sets of ASM 361-363 in 9.8 and other assorted comics... including a Next Men #21 CGC 9.8)

Edited: Forgot to mention Archer and Armstrong #0 CGC 9.8 (a lot of copies.)
Still have to pre-screen and submit some new packs found... including Vintage Magnuses, Harbingers, etc. Gotta admit this pre-pre-screening is harder than it looks.
I have one pre-pre-screener who is currently doing 97% accuracy
and another who is around 88% on average. I'm currently doing about 90% these days but I clearly need to spend more time on it.
Someone who came by my booth in San Diego emailed me with the Valiants he had slabbed. He basically bought them from me and then walked them over to CGC:
He got 3 CGC 9.8s for Solar #1, 1 CGC 9.8 for X-O Manowar #1 and 2 CGC 9.6s for X-O Manowar #1

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Gents,
I have a general question about submitting an already certified CGC book.
The book is Hard Corps 5 Defense Variant.
The problem is that it's not labeled variant on its holder so I can't register it in my Variant Set.
I contacted CGC and they said:
The comic you entered is not labeled as the variant edition, though it has the sticker, so it cannot be registered in this slot until the label is changed. You would need to submit the book back to us, listed on a New Holder invoice, noting that it is mis-labeled. We will correct the label and return the book to you at no charge, but we need the invoice for tracking purposes. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but it is the only way to have the book registered properly.
I am a free member of collector's society, so I would need a dealer to submit it through but there are none in this area. Also, if I took this to a con where they grade on site, could they print up a new label there?
Suggestions?

You shouldn't have to use a dealer at all. Send the book and a copy of the email/letter or something that mentions their instructions.tarheelmarine wrote:Gents,

You should be good to go.
