You buy what you like, nothing wrong with that. I keep buying cheap copies of Dr. Strange #62 in NM because I think the story about the final destruction of vampires in the Marvel Universe is just very cool. It will probably never be worth anything, since I'm sure all the vampires have probably come back 20 times since, but I like it.Jay Tomio wrote:Oh, yeah - not the (as noted I was sure to put the date up!) Gobbledygooks. I have a tendency to get caught up in my peripheral collecting (my true focus-currently - is Phantom Stranger and Silver/Bronze Teen Titans - along with finishing off the cosmic Marvel collection) that I can't really explain properly with reason. There are a couple of moderns that I always buy slabs of - Painted Spectre covers, TMT appearances, Grendel, Azreal/Azbats related stuff, some random Bolland covers (Wonder Woman etc ) - I guess you could put VALIANT in that group as well. I also tend to buy copies of Transformers#19 (Omega Supreme cover)
I really can't explain why, but 'dumb' probably enters the equation somewhere.
Yeah, for some reason I always think TMNT got their start in 1986 or so.Brother J wrote:I think you guys are getting your "Gobbledygooks" mixed up. Jay made sure he put the 1986 date in there, meaning it's the very common version, not the rare one with the first appearance of the Turtles in an ad.whovianone wrote:I haven't seen a copy of that book anywhere in over 10 years! No, I'd use something more elegant like...Jay Tomio wrote:Oh, yeah - not the (as noted I was sure to put the date up!) Gobbledygooks. Those Mignola Hulks are very underrated, I picked up a complete run of them out of .50 cent boxes, in NM shape, too!cobra_commander wrote:Just got the run of Mignola Hulks...beeeeeewwwwwwwtiful. And another Iron Man 169...

What's special about IM #169? I'm too lazy to look. I do love me some IM #128 and IM #150, sweet covers!

I've been waiting weeks for someone to ask me that, thanks Bro J.Brother J wrote:Those Mignola Hulks are very underrated, I picked up a complete run of them out of .50 cent boxes, in NM shape, too!cobra_commander wrote:Just got the run of Mignola Hulks...beeeeeewwwwwwwtiful. IM #169. 1st James Rhodes as IM
(IM #118 1st James Rhodes). I just refuse to believe that with RDJ and Gwyneth in the IM movie its not gonna be big. And with Terrence Howard as James Rhodes my hunch is his stock is gonna go up...way up.
And if it doesn;t I'm out about a buck or 2

Now I'm too lazy to look. I'm gonna bag 'em tomorrow and I'll give you a run down then MagnusMagnusRF wrote:I don't remember any Mignola Hulks, what are the issue numbers?cobra_commander wrote:Just got the run of Mignola Hulks...beeeeeewwwwwwwtiful. And another Iron Man 169...

From what I was told by Hulk 181 (If I remember correctly) MIgnola only did interiors for about 3 of the issues but he did the covers for maybe 10. And they're really beautiful covers.
Ah f@ck it I'll post the numbers and some pics shortly

OK issues are 301-313 I believe. I got kinda interested in them when Hulk181 posted a few pics and they looked pretty cool....That was about 6 months agoMagnusRF wrote:cobra_commander wrote:Now I'm too lazy to look. I'll be looking for that in the bargain bins at the local comic show tomorrow. Show tomorrow at Burnham Bowl, Myron. Not sure if it's worth coming all the way to Milwaukee for you, but I thought I'd mention it (hopefully you read this thread)!cobra_commander wrote:I've been waiting weeks for someone to ask me that, thanks Bro J.Brother J wrote:Those Mignola Hulks are very underrated, I picked up a complete run of them out of .50 cent boxes, in NM shape, too!cobra_commander wrote:Just got the run of Mignola Hulks...beeeeeewwwwwwwtiful. I didn't have to ask about those issues, but I did get a grin and mentally go "atta boy" when I read your post, man!cobra_commander wrote:I've been waiting weeks for someone to ask me that, thanks Bro J.

I've got to say though, it's pretty funny because (and I swear what I'm about to say is true) I guess I'm such an Iron Fan that it never even entered my mind until the post above that my IM collection might jump in price for a while if the movie breaks big. Never even occured to me, yet here I am thinking ahead about Miller's Ronin in another post.... how about them apples?
