Greg came in and saved the day. I was just about to say that if we really want to get Slym all worked up about another thread then we were gonna have to try hard to stay on topic.
My LCS said he will order it for me. Not Special order, I don't have to pay in advance, but he refers to it as "that Valiant thing" every time I see him. I can't stand it, it is like he is talking down to me. It isn't like I am asking him to pre-order 25 "My Little Pony" #1's so that I can get the one with the glitter title or something.

My guy was the same way until I told him about the new Jim Shooter story. He thinks Shooter writing comics again would be something that people are interested in1st Among Equals wrote:okay so im all hyped about the hardcover thats coming out so i went over to my local comic store to see if it was true and it turns out it is so im happy but than he says that you must speacal order it because he thinks not many people will by it, this makes me sad for people who dont know about Valiant will never know because there will not be any on the shelves

If there's anything that really helps someone make a sale, it's put-downs.
Does he think you won't open your wallet unless you've been insulted.
He's probably one of those guys who complains that sales are down.
Gee... I wonder why.

The "Big" shop in my area is run by a very nice couple, but when I mentioned it, the man did not seem to think that this has a "Snowballs chance" in being anything beyond "A nostaligia trip for nerds". The other two shops I go to, both of which I much preffer, have staffs which are totally geeked about the prospect of a company being reborn like this and have made plans to order several copies. I've already got mine reserved and as such, due also to discounts, I get it for a grand total of 19 dollars, including tax. I really think that many comic shops are still owned by people who have no business being in business, because of how they hold personal grudges. This of course, could be said about many other ventures, but I've found a a certain type of "snobbery & resentment" in the collectible market that you wouldn't in others.

Still a sore spot for a lot of dealers unfortunatley. Overspeculation and the down hill slide in quality Valiant went through after Jim was fired still burns in their memory. Hopefully the new VU can turn those feelings around by sticking to what made Valiant great in the first place.xodacia81 wrote:The "Big" shop in my area is run by a very nice couple, but when I mentioned it, the man did not seem to think that this has a "Snowballs chance" in being anything beyond "A nostaligia trip for nerds".

Well, let's face it, Greg... Comic shop owners aren't known for great customer service as a whole. That's why I'm so lucky to have one here.greg wrote:Sellers who make fun of buyers.
