Eternal Warrior 5 fan project
I don't want to start anything, but noticed there are at least a few people posting "I'm in" that have the book. Just curious if the people that have one are planning to redistribute them to a fan that doesn't?
I have one and am in no way trying to start any arguments here, but was just curious.
Feel free to pm me if you don't want to say here in this topic.

I don't have one and I am not in.Sadly I have been selling off some of my key issues for one reason or another and if I had any of the fan issues I would sell it for cost so that it would go to someone who would appreciate it.But I also understand someone selling it for more because you never know whats going on in other members lives.

"What's going on in other member's lives" is always temporary, and can be helped in many other ways.96Valiantfan wrote:I don't have one and I am not in.Sadly I have been selling off some of my key issues for one reason or another and if I had any of the fan issues I would sell it for cost so that it would go to someone who would appreciate it.But I also understand someone selling it for more because you never know whats going on in other members lives.
If someone offered you $200 to blow them, and you really needed the money....would you do it? Some people would, at the sacrifice of a bit of their soul.
How is that any different?
Again....just because someone CAN do something, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.
I appreciate your sentiment and am glad you feel the way you do about your own copy, though.

I think it's a nice gesture that you're offering this one up at cost. That's the board member I remember. Hope it goes to a deserving home.Akuma wrote:I edited the rules to explain the raffle is still ON but I'll be removing the names of those who had more to say then I'm In. Graybola you're ok due to the nice PM you sent to explain yourself. No worries.
No other exceptions will be made.

but the right amount of money would buy a lot of therapy afterwards...lol
i've always joked with my wife after we saw indecent proposal that i wouldn't necessarily let her sleep with someone else for $1 million but i damn sure would...lol
she always retorts with "what if they only wanted me?" and i reply "then take one for the team baby!"

Maybe it is another isolated incident and not a pattern.
At first I was excited to have a board that I could be a part of with people who liked some of the same squit that I do. These kind of threads make me really think this board is lame, and make me want to forget about posting here and only lurk every now and then to keep on top of the valiant collecting world.
Take this for what it is worth.
Note: I would post this in the "where do the 'my story' people go?" thread, but that is all squcked up due to, well, whatever.

There's an easy solution to this tiptoeing you're doing....just ignore me.Dr. Solar wrote:Totally.palls15 wrote:Same here, but for different reasons. There IS an ignore function.
Just ignore me and be done with it.
You won't be missing anything.

Oh, and for the record....the LAST time there was a VcVSS issue was the last time someone wanted to sell them for a profit, over a year ago.
But like I said....if you don't want to see it, just ignore me.
I'll send you a PM if you don't know how to use the ignore function.

One more thing: please do not judge the entire board by MY words.
Most of the people on this board...the VAST majority...aren't hotheads with an opinion and the ability to express it. They're nice guys with lots to offer.
If you have an issue with me and the way I say what I say, just ignore me.
Easy cheesy.

By now I'm sure ZWH had condemned me for this humoruous outburst.ckb wrote:I sold my orignial copy for some serious blood money, so I thought I would try to acquire this one in order to increase the amount of blood money on my hands. When I'm done maybe I'll have double blood money.
For those of you that are new, this kind of thing passes as entertainment for me - *SQUEE* off ZWH, whom I have on ignore.
And also, for those of you who do not know the history, because we are doomed to repeat it - there is another side to this issue. Some board searching can come up with a few heated discussions on reselling the fan projects.
In summary, none of these early projects were ever done with any stipulation on what happened to them after they were puchased. Yes, purchased, not given away, albeit for a nominal amount.
I had nearly a full set of these when some new members came on board and badly wanted the ones they had missed. Someone posted a "Wanted to buy" for one of them at $250, and I felt that it would be irresponsible for me not to sell it. That price was just too high for me to pass up since I am not a wealthy individual. I did not want to own the book if it was that valuable. So I did a private deal.
Around the same time some 'flipping' or changing hands was going on openly on the forums, due to the demand. There were heated discussions, and I felt the discussions marginalized members who had decided to sell. I felt that I wanted out of the whole series of books since I could not live up to the 'holier than thou' high standards of having the priviledge of owning them.
So, as sales were solicited by board members in WTB posts and PMs, I privately answered and did deals to rid myself of them. Except for a couple that I still have. I still have them since no one has solicited to buy them at a price that I have to take, and I hope that price is never reached. When I sold the Ninjak one (which was a CF fundraiser put together by Knight, by far my favorite fan project), I donated all the proceeds to CF ($200 I believe) since I had broken a public promise not to sell it. (The promise was made during board discussions, it was not part of obtaining the book.) I felt it was more important to not own one of these rather than keep that promise, the stigma was so great and rhetoric so thick. After the point I made a decision to sell them when given the chance, I did not participate in future projects.
I signed up for the raffle because the EW5 project is also special. I think the job Greg did on the little extras made for a great collectable. As before, I will never solicit to sell this book should I win it. My hope would be that the demand would never again reach a point at which someone was willing to pay over $200 for the book so that I could keep it forever. But given a solicitation to sell it at that level, I think it would be irresponsible for anyone, except the wealthy, not to sell it at that price.
I'd actually be disappointed if Omma is falling for this overcharged rhetoric and raffling this one off. I hope he is doing it because he thinks it is a cool thing to do, and not because of some guilt trip falsely layed on by some others. The situation with Whet and the Solar project is unfortunate, but that is a problem between Whet and Justin, and Justin and the board. I see no reason to lay it at the feet of Omma.
He owns it. He can sell it. And Zeph can claim all he wants that it is an absolute fact that this is the most evil thing to do ever. (As I assume he is doing at the moment.) That still does not make it so.
No need to answer, Zeph, I won't read it. Sometimes I do read your comic-related posts, but this discussion is far from comic-related.

Now THIS...THIS is just unecessary nastiness, designed only to smear me. <shrug>ckb wrote:By now I'm sure ZWH had condemned me for this humoruous outburst.ckb wrote:I sold my orignial copy for some serious blood money, so I thought I would try to acquire this one in order to increase the amount of blood money on my hands. What can you do about things like this? Nothing. People will do what they do. CKB had nothing to do with this, or me, so why the need to take a vicious shot like this?
And why is it necessary to announce who you have on ignore? To create ill will.
I'm certainly not *SQUEE* off....ol' C's kinda clueless about that....but I AM sad and dismayed that people feel the need to foster this kind of nastiness.
Like I said....everyone one of you reading this should judge me by MY words.....not what other people think about me.
For those of you who are new....ckb here is NOT representative of the board. Please do not judge the board by his OR my words.
That there were no stipulations doesn't matter....when you get married, and exchange rings as a symbol of your love....is there a stipulation that you don't sell those, either? No, it's understood.
These books are a symbol.....they MEAN something. They symbolize a group of people who share a common bond, scattered across the earth. They are not tools to make the likes of CKB, Akuma, Vault Keeper, Chrismartin, or anyone else money.
A ridiculous justification. There was nothing keeping CKB from selling this for cost. He didn't because he wanted $$$$$$. He saw $$$$$$.I had nearly a full set of these when some new members came on board and badly wanted the ones they had missed. Someone posted a "Wanted to buy" for one of them at $250, and I felt that it would be irresponsible for me not to sell it.
That's what it comes down to.
Another convenient justification. CKB has sold HUNDREDS of CGC books, often for more money than $250. He didn't need to sell this book. That price was just too high for me to pass up since I am not a wealthy individual.
"Holier than thou" = believing in something greater than the sum of its parts.I did not want to own the book if it was that valuable.
If CKB doesn't understand the concept of being part of something greater than himself, that's fine, and not surprising. But it would have been nice if HIS books went to someone who didn't have to pay an inflated, greedy price for them and who actually understood what these meant.
It's nice to see that CKB has SOME sense of ethics. So, as sales were solicited by board members in WTB posts and PMs, I privately answered and did deals to rid myself of them. Except for a couple that I still have. I still have them since no one has solicited to buy them at a price that I have to take, and I hope that price is never reached. (The promise was made during board discussions, it was not park of obtaining the book.)
In this case, rhetoric = believing in and being part of something greater than the sum of its parts.I felt it was more important to not own one of these rather than keep that promise, the stigma was so great and rhetoric so thick.
Which, of course, is nothing but a rationalization and justification for $$$$$.After the point I made a decision to sell them when given the chance, I did not participate in future projects.
I signed up for the raffle because the EW5 project is also special. I think the job Greg did on the little extras made for a great collectable. As before, I will never solicit to sell this book should I win it. But given a solicitation to sell it at that level, I think it would be irresponsible for anyone, except the wealthy, not to sell it at that price.
I assume CKB is married...if someone were to offer him $10,000,000 for his wedding rings, would he sell them?
My guess is, probably, and he would use the excuse that it would be "irresponsible" to not sell them.
There are just some things that are more important than money. And it disheartens me INCREDIBLY to see so many people in life who don't understand that.
After all, if you believe in that sort of thing, Satan offered Jesus the ENTIRE WORLD. It doesn't get much better than that, does it?
And all Jesus would have to do is bow to Satan.
It would have been irresponsible of Jesus not to, right? I mean, the WHOLE WORLD to shape and mold just as he saw fit, to lead any way he wanted....
Here's the sad part for CKB: I do, too.I'd actually be disappointed if Omma is falling for this overcharged rhetoric and raffling this one off. I hope he is doing it because he thinks it is a cool thing to do
I TRULY hope Akuma's doing this because he wants to, not because I or ANYONE guilted him into doing it.
You say "falsely", I say "apt.", and not because of some guilt trip falsely layed on by some others.
This is where CKB is misrepresenting the facts. He should read them again. The situation with Whet and the Solar project is unfortunate, but that is a problem between Whet and Justin, and Justin and the board. I see no reason to lay it at the feet of Omma.
No one laid anything at the "feet of Omma." *I* made the offer, and told you all what I would be doing it, but Omma was not in ANY WAY made to feel like it was HIS responsibility. It was not, is not, and there you have it.
I made an offer of MORE than Akuma originally asked for, but it was rejected.
More hyperbole. What was it CKB was saying about "heavy rhetoric"?He owns it. He can sell it. And Zeph can claim all he wants that it is an absolute fact that this is the most evil thing to do ever.
Why is it necessary to misrepresent the situation? Selling one is not the most evil thing to do, ever. It IS crappy, it spits in the face of the community, but it's certainly not the MOST evil thing to do. But that's just what people who want to smear, like CKB, do....facts mean nothing to them, only smearing those they hate.
<shrug>
Well, since you are eventually going to read this (as you did the original response, or you wouldn't have responded...(As I assume he is doing at the moment.) That still does not make it so.

Of course, I never said it is.
No, there is a need to answer. The answer's not for you.No need to answer, Zeph, I won't read it.
Please, don't do me any favors.Sometimes I do read your comic-related posts, but this discussion is far from comic-related.
I'm really sorry that you don't appreciate what this community means, CKB, and don't feel any sort of connection to the rest of the people on this board, I really am.
But, you can't change people. They have to change themselves, if they want to.
I doubt that will ever happen in your case. So....oh well.
