New Universe and Secret Wars II?

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

New Universe and Secret Wars II?

Post by Todd Luck »

I just got finished reading the ending of Secret Wars II. Spoilers Below

In the end Beyonder's energy was unleashed on the Earth (which looked exactly like the White Event in the New Universe) and was sent to Beyonder's dimension by Molecule Man (the dimension is an empty void without Beyonder there) saving the Marvel Universe from destruction. It creates a universe with an Earth that looks like a pretty normal Earth, which is refered to as "a new universe."

This is several months before the New Universe premiered that year. Wikipedia said Shooter denied that the New Universe was the one created at the end of SW II but didn't list a citation for it. Can anyone confirm if he did deny it or if that indeed was the origin of the New Universe? It would've certainly fit in neatly.

Now you mention it Todd, I am sure there was some rumoured link back in the day. Have you got Star Brand 1 to compare?

Off topic - the cover to Newuniversal 2 looks like Spitfire....cool looking at last!
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

Sort of on topic... that last issue of Secret Wars II is pretty hard to find.
If anyone's even thinking of checking this out and they see a copy offered, they should probably snap it up.
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.

What am I comparing?

The white event didn't appear in Star Brand 1 (though as I said the explosion of Beyonder's power in SW II did look similar to the NU's white event as it appeared in other comics). The only scene in SW II from "the new universe" that was created at the end was a few panels set in prehistoric times. Even if it was the same new universe, that would've been a bit before the events in Star Brand 1.
