BAD ebay seller

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... =3&rows=50

I bought Harby 0-6, Magnus 0-8 and Rai 0-5 from her and the were all trashed. All of them were VF at best!!! She claimed they were NM. Harby's had no coupons. Magnus had coupons in a FEW. Rai 1 was Magnus 5 filpped over. I have sent three emails without an answer. I got a decent price, not great. $125 for the lot.

I bought from her off ebay, I asked a question about an auction she had and she offered me another set. No scans on the auction or for our off ebay deal. Serves me right for going off ebay :(

I just won a Rai auction yesterday, we'll see. I believe some other board members have had good experiences, like I said, we'll see.

I had a good experience with her. However, I just did get a shipment in from another seller. I won two Harby #1's from him a few weeks ago. Both were supposed to have coupons. Only one did. I set him an Email about an hour ago. We'll see what happens.

I think that most non-Valiant folks don't realize that the coupons wrap around the interior spine. On the Harby #1's, there should be half of the coupon between pages 8 & 9 and the other half between pages 22 & 23 (I think those are the later numbers). The half of the coupon required for Harby #0 is between pages 22 & 23. I just think that folks see the first half of the coupon and mistakenly don't look for the 2nd half.

We'll if she's not even making an effort then she sucks. How do you block certain users so you don't see their lousy merchandize? Because you know I’ll forget in a month and accidentally purchase a pink from her and get a blue. :censored:

Dino,

I'm chuckling over here because I won two magnus sets, 0-8, within the past two weeks from her and I was also dissappointed with the one set's condition. Issues 3 and 4 were bent and stressed up and down the spine. She? didn't even include issue number 5 in the first batch. The second has yet to appear. I guess I'm laughing at the insanity of those who are clueless and throw out NM grades on books that are not even close.

My total for both sets was $90. So far, not worth it. :atomic:

You gotta play hardball with these people. I know it's not in some of your natures, but I can't tell you how many times I've gotten crap....no, really, I can't...it's wayyyyy too much...and then had sellers say 'well...<hands on hips, indignantly>..you're certainly the very FIRST person who has EVER complained about my grading, so it must be YOU who has the problem.'

Ya know?

I'm with ya ZWH, I'm waiting on the next run and if they are in bad shape, I'll accept nothing but a refund. Or in the least put together one decent run. It's false advertisement in my book. After all these years, my original Solar and Magnus runs are truly NM/M and nicer than anything I've ever purchased on ebay. I too often assume others bought and protected comics the way I did back in the day. :atomic:

It's strange to see a person with feedback that good make an obvious grading error like that. It's too bad you can't leave them appropriate feedback as warning to others but that is the downside to making non Ebay deals.

In my last email I told here I was gonna follow a four part plan until she refunded my money. Part one was expressing my concern to other valiant members on these forums. Part two was contacting ebay. We'll see how far I have to go. :!:

I long ago gave up trying to 'convince' sellers of the error of their ways, to try and 'cajole' them into doing the right thing...

...now I just file a fraud report with Paypal, call my credit card company, and that's that.

Not it isnt...Feedback is just about worthless unless they are all bad. Sellers often bully people into leaving a positive even when they are upset, because they threaten the buyer with a retalitory neg...also some people dont know that they got ripped off...either way feedback is generally useless..

You know, with all the problems people have with ebay, I wonder why someone else doesn't try to make a better auction site?

So what problems or changes would you make?

1) I discussed previously how I would make a change to not include a specific end date (if the seller wants that type of auction). There was debate back and forth on whether this would work, but I think it would have to be tested to work.

2) Feedback doesn't seem to work so well. How would you suggest changing it? Maybe make it so that feedback is not seen until it is posted by both people (thus, you can't threaten a retalitory negative, because you don't know if the person is posting a negative or not). Any other ideas?

What other problems are there with ebay?

Chris

Well it is a good idea except if they never leave you feedback. You might need to add that after "x" number of days feedback would be seen and you would loose the option to leave them feedback.

You would also need to keep the "reply" to feedback function. just in case the act like they are happy and then neg you anyways.

There are other auction sites out there, but eBay has the market on this. Sellers want their item to be seen by the most people, so they keep using eBay.... Buyers want the biggest selection, so they keep using eBay. As Fat *SQUEE* once said.... "It's a vicious cycle."

UPDATE: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER

Received my books over a week ago, they were trashed in shipping, e-mailed the seller with no reply. Told him I would inform the members of this board of his inferior packing and service. Waited a week. No Reply.
So here is the poop, the books were shipped to me media mail (which is fine) in a manila envelope (not padded) with the books double bagged and boarded (2 books, 1 bag, 1board) sandwiched between a couple of modern size boards with "do not bend" written on the front. Of courst it didn't say "do not bang on each of the corners" or "do not stuff this envelope into my average sized mailbox". So anyway, the deal sure looks good, but buy at your own risk here. Mark

I must be lucky, all auction's I've won have turned out ok, with the exception of one, bought a c.d. for a penny and never saw it, with shipping and all it came out to $1.50-$2.00, nothing big.

Someone said something about, "with all the problems people face with ebay, why doesn't someone start another auction site?" or something to that effect. I found one fairly similar called simlpy "Buy.com", their's not any Valiant comics that I've noticed, but maybe if a few of us sell on there, maybe they'll catch onto "Hey, people want these comics", selling I think is free, unless someone buys your item? The buyer pays Buy.com, then Buy.com send you your money with a percentage deducted, I think that's how it works?

When I sell on EBAY, I ALWAYS "under-grade" the book. That way they are pleasantly surprised to find it was in even better condition than they thought. I just always hope the mailman doesn't decide to play kickball with it, like some of my books came to me. :!:
Everyone wishes that everyone selling comics knew a little something or gave a little more than a damn about comics as a whole, but this is a trait few and far between in Ebay-land.

I always ship comics in a box, even if it is just one issue. Shipping in an envelope is risky, although most of the time, if packed with care the comics travel well this way. The corrugated cardboard sandwich can work well if it is oversized, but no matter what you write on the envelope it is still going to get tossed around, that's why I prefer a box and bubble wrap.

I find priority with corigated cardboard and bubble envelopes work well for me. I know a lot of online dealers do it this way. What do mile high do?
